Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Is Actually Helping Pittsburgh Win Games In The Most Unexpected Way

The Pittsburgh Steelers are on a roll after defeating the Miami Dolphins by a score of 28-15 in one of their best games, if not the best game, of the entire season on both sides of the ball. The Dolphins looked helpless in the freezing cold at Acrisure Stadium, as they were unable to stop quarterback Aaron Rodgers from doing whatever he wanted all night as Rodgers threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns in one of the best games he's played all year, while the running game got going strong as the Dolphins failed to contain anyone out of the backfield -- adding to their miserable night.

Rodgers' dominant performance will hopefully continue to build the momentum for the Steelers as they go on the road to take on the Detroit Lions this Sunday afternoon in a pivotal game for both teams. If the Steelers want to continue holding onto their lead in the AFC North, the Steelers will need to go out and have another strong performance like they have had the past two weeks.

Even with Rodgers dominating on the field, the veteran quarterback has helped the team win games in more than just his on field displays. As Rodgers knows, there are multiple ways that the leader of a team can contribute to helping ensure victory, and one of those ways to help is by motivating the players around him.

On the latest episode of the Kaboly + Mack podcast, both Mark Kaboly and Chris Mack discussed this particular topic, and Kaboly gave some insight that shows just how Rodgers motivates the team to play as hard as they can each week.

"We look at different things, okay, he gets along with people, right, and he's pushing people in a certain direction," Kaboly said. "But he stands up in front of that media and says, 'Yeah, look at these castoffs or losers,' I mean, I paraphrase. You think that just came to his mind right there? Oh, he wants to use that heading down the stretch. I mean, look at all these guys. Nobody wanted you guys. Nobody wanted me. Nobody wanted this head coach. I mean, the guy is very smart like that, and I wouldn't be surprised that was planned in his head if they won that game, to come out here and have this rallying cry."

Kaboly's remarks regarding the way Rodgers is able to motivate the players on the Steelers show just how intelligent Rodgers is with how he can use the narratives spun by the media to motivate his teammates. Even with how the team has looked in the past two weeks, there were plenty of things said about the current team that would be considered ammunition for Rodgers to use to help motivate the team to play better, and to their credit, they've performed incredibly well since their last loss.

The way Rodgers is able to motivate the players to be better on the field likely has roots in the awful 26-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 13, as this was the lowest point the team has been at all season, and was absolutely the time that no one wanted any of the current players or the head coach to remain on the team. The results of that game and the talk of how bad the team is undoubtedly galvanized Rodgers, and since that disaster, the Steelers have put up better performances, with their best performance of the entire season coming against the Dolphins. This is something that is vital for the team to continue moving forward.

Steelers Need This Leadership To Continue Into The Playoffs

One thing the Steelers have lacked in recent years in the playoffs is a veteran leader in the locker room on offense. Should the Steelers hold on and win the AFC North, having a veteran like Rodgers in the locker room will go a long way to hopefully ensuring playoff success for the first time since 2016.

With Rodgers being able to motivate the team at the level he can, hopefully the Steelers will be able to win a playoff game under his leadership and potentially go further than people believed they could.
