The Pittsburgh Steelers and Super Bowl would have been laughable after the Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Pittsburgh was outscored 23–0 in the second half, and the collapse became so alarming that fans at Acrisure Stadium were chanting to fire longtime head coach, Mike Tomlin. It was a low point in a season already filled with questions about consistency, offensive identity, and whether this roster was truly built to contend when it mattered most.

Since that moment, however, the Steelers have responded in the best way possible. Back-to-back statement wins over the Baltimore Ravens and the Miami Dolphins have flipped the narrative entirely, pushing Pittsburgh to 8–6 on the 2025 season. With three games remaining, the focus has shifted from late-season survival to postseason potential, as the team has shown resilience, physicality, and the ability to rise when counted out.

That resurgence has caught the attention of former NFL star wide receiver Dez Bryant, who took to social media to praise DK Metcalf and the Steelers as a whole. Bryant believes that if Metcalf continues to play at his current level, Pittsburgh has a legitimate chance to make a deep playoff run and reach Super Bowl LIX. Bryant even went a step further, predicting the Steelers could face the Los Angeles Rams, his projected NFC champion, on the league’s biggest stage. What once sounded absurd is now being discussed seriously, and the Steelers are once again forcing the football world to pay attention.

Metcalf was traded to Pittsburgh and signed a massive $30 million per year deal, immediately raising expectations among Steelers fans. Many expected him to be truly world-class right away, and while that hasn’t always been the case, Metcalf has delivered several defining moments during the 2025 season.

One of the biggest came in the 28–15 win over the Miami Dolphins, when he hauled in a perfect strike from Aaron Rodgers and then physically overpowered former Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick on his way to the end zone. It was a tone-setting play and a statement moment for both Metcalf and the Steelers offense.

Metcalf finished that game catching all three of his targets for 55 receiving yards and a touchdown, making the most of every opportunity.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Hopeful To Get DK Metcalf More Involved Down The Stretch

After the win, Rodgers admitted he wished he had found ways to get Metcalf even more involved, a telling comment about the impact he believes the receiver can have. On the 2025 season, Metcalf now sits at 55 catches for 808 yards and six touchdowns, solid production that reflects both his ability to stretch the field and his growing chemistry within the offense.

That is why Bryant’s praise carries real weight. Bryant knows firsthand what it takes to dominate at wide receiver in the NFL, and his endorsement of Metcalf is not handed out lightly. Hearing a former all-time great speak so confidently about Metcalf’s influence on this Steelers team adds credibility to the belief that Pittsburgh’s ceiling may be much higher than many once thought.

Now the Steelers face another brutal test. They will head on the road to face the Detroit Lions in Week 16. If Pittsburgh can walk out of Detroit with a win. That would give fans a massive boost of confidence.
