Former All-Pro Takes Odd Shot At Steelers As He Expects It To Be Like "Taking Candy From A Baby" For The Texans

The Pittsburgh Steelers took down the Baltimore Ravens in Week 18 of the 2025 regular season to clinch the AFC North and a spot in the postseason. The winner of that game between Pittsburgh and Baltimore was going to be able to host the Houston Texans on Monday night at the end of Wild Card Weekend, and the Steelers earned the right to do that by beating the Ravens. Houston may be a Wild Card team, but the Texans are one of the hottest teams in the league and the defense that they have is one of the best and most intimidating in the NFL.

DeMeco Ryans took over as the head coach in Houston before the 2023 season and he has turned things around. The Texans have made the playoffs in each of his first three seasons, and he has won a playoff game in each of his first two seasons as well. Pittsburgh will be looking to put an end to that streak on Monday night, which is something that the fan base desperately needs as the franchise has not advanced in the postseason in nearly a decade. Former NFL running back LeSean McCoy would not get his hopes up if he was a Pittsburgh fan, as he expects an easy win for Houston which he said on his show Speakeasy.

"I'm betting $50,000 against them this next game, though," McCoy said. "That's a layup. That's really called taking candy from a baby. You said baby crying, 'Give me that!' Watching the Steelers play today, it hurt watching that. Lamar [Jackson] and them, it looked like it was effortless the way they was playing. Even though they lost, they kept going down, they came back. Even when they started the game out, 10-0 quick. I thought they would win this game easily. Better team, better talent. The matchup favors the Ravens on every level."

McCoy claims that the Steelers and Ravens is a matchup that the Steelers should not win based on how the two teams are constructed, yet Pittsburgh has won three out of the last four regular season matchups. Pittsburgh went down early in the game against Baltimore on Sunday, but Pittsburgh fought back and was able to control the majority of the second to get the win.

Former athletes have an infatuation with the Ravens and quarterback Lamar Jackson, but the quarterback has proven time and time again that he is not consistent in big games. If he did fit that bill, the Ravens would already have a Lombardi Trophy during his tenure. He was a shell of himself throughout the first three quarters of the game against Pittsburgh, and by the time he turned things on in the fourth quarter, it was too late. The game came down to the wire, but the Steelers controlled the matchup when it mattered most.

McCoy's comments about the Week 18 game might be wrong, but it is hard to disagree strongly with his analysis of the upcoming Wild Card game against the Texans. The Texans' defense has been the best in the league over the second half of the season, and the team has not lost a game since the first weekend of November. It will be a tall task for the Steelers to get past this team, but hosting a team that plays in a dome in below-freezing temperatures should play to Pittsburgh's advantage.

Steelers' Mike Tomlin Must Break Postseason Trend

Over the last handful of years since Pittsburgh's last playoff win, the Steelers have struggled to even be competitive in the postseason. Opposing teams have gotten out in front early which forces Pittsburgh to play catch up throughout the entire game, and that is something the Steelers have to avoid against Houston. It happened at the end of the 2024 season as the Steelers were down 21-0 at halftime in Baltimore, and the Steelers were also down 21-0 to the Buffalo Bills in the postseason back in 2023. That can't happen this time around.
