The Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot of work to do with their new regime. They have done a good job of increasing the size of the coaching staff with a more modern look to it. Once all the hires have been made, there will be a ton of questions that they will have to answer about this roster that is full of aging players and massive holes on offense. General Manager Omar Khan is known for being aggressive, so expect him to work the phones and land a premier player at a position of need.

Khan may already have a team that he should get on the phone with right now. Alec Lewis of The Athletic wrote a column about what the Minnesota Vikings should do in the 2026 offseason, and one of those options is to trade away a highly talented wideout.
"Trading [Jordan] Addison would be a multifaceted decision with many important factors: Addisonβs off-field history, his subpar 2025 season, the type of premium pick the Vikings could get in return, questions about Addisonβs long-term durability, how the Vikings need to disperse their spending and more," Lewis said. "The internal faith in [Jalen] Nailor and optimism about Tai Felton make this trade more digestible."
Lewis specified that the Vikings should trade Jordan Addison away for just a second-round pick. He also mentioned that the former first-round pick has "undeniable" talent and a high football IQ. However, 2025 was not a great year for him on and off the field, so the idea is that he should be dealt away while he still has value and won't be lost in free agency. That is Lewis' hope.

Addison was previously arrested for trespassing at a casino, but he has not spent any time in jail yet, as we await the verdict. He also had a three-game suspension to begin the year for using performance-enhancing drugs. On top of that, he only had 42 receptions for 610 yards and three touchdowns in 2025, as he posted career-lows in nearly every single statistical category in this rough season.
His rough performance can be excused by the fact that the Vikings had some terrible quarterback play. Even Justin Jefferson expressed shock and disbelief when he learned he reached over 1,000 receiving yards with how bad the offense was for them. The Steelers' quarterback situation is also unclear, but getting a first-round talent a discount would be worth it, especially if he stays out of legal trouble.
Steelers Desperately Need A Receiver Like Addison
The Steelers do not seemingly have a single high-end route runner or constant separator in the wide receiver room. There is plenty of size and speed, but that can only do so much when everyone has a severely limited route tree. Addison would be the perfect complement to this offense with DK Metcalf being the deep-play threat with other wideouts getting the quick pass to make something happen in the open space.

With the Steelers expecting to go back to a traditional three-wide receiver set, Addison won't have to worry about losing snap counts for an extra tight end. He can line up inside or outside and make life hard for opposing defensive coordinators trying to shut him down. If teams focus on Metcalf, he will likely be open on his one-on-one route, and vice versa with Addison.
The Steelers may have a new coaching staff, but the front office has seen a lot of what Addison can do from his time with the Pittsburgh Panthers. He and Kenny Pickett made magic together, with scouts from the pro team watching many of those games at Acrisure Stadium. As long as he can learn from his arrests, he can be an amazing trade acquisition for Pittsburgh.
