Pittsburgh Steelers General Manager Omar Khan can make a splash at any time. He has proven that during his tenure as the head of the organization's front office. With 12 projected draft picks in 2026, anything is possible for the franchise in the coming weeks. There will be the opportunity to completely rebuild the roster with rookies, or potentially utilize some of the selections to acquire proven players via trades. On top of that, the team is set to have over $40 million in cap space, and that is prior to any kind of restructures or extensions taking place. There are plenty of options on the table.

It's always fun for fans to speculate and figure out what the best possible move or moves could be for their respective teams. Those that are loyal to the Steelers have experienced a relatively new era under Khan, as the general manager is not afraid to make certain deals if it is going to better the roster. Pittsburgh could once again be in store for a shopping spree, and the plethora of selections at the front office's disposal could make all the difference.

During a recent appearance on his podcast, Adam Schefter went into detail about the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns trade involving Tytus Howard and Juice Scruggs, with draft capital also being exchanged. To what would be a benefit for the Steelers, the insider strongly believes that a lot of wheeling and dealing could be set to occur in the coming days.

"I think we're going to see more of those kinds of moves," Schefter said. "I don't know whether we see Maxx Crosby traded; I don't know whether we see AJ Brown traded, but it feels like where the cap has gone up significantly, where teams have done a great job at re-signing their own players and keeping them in-house, that if teams are going to invest in players, then it'd be for players under contract. The only way to get the players under contract is to trade for them."

With enough cap space and draft picks to do damage, reporting like this has to be music to Khan's ears. The free agency pool isn't as strong because of teams getting in the habit of extending key contributors early, which makes the trade market all that more attractive. Schefter expecting organizations to be looking around will be fun for fans to follow.

Top NFL insider Adam Schefter sits down on set as he talks on a panel about the happenings around the NFL.

Schefter compared this time to what it was like back as the 2025 trade deadline occurred. There were teams all over the league that went out and made moves to improve their rosters, and the possibility of that occurring is growing increasingly more likely. The Steelers are going to be set up perfectly if the market gets hot, and Khan will not shy away from making a splash if the opportunity presents itself.

"I think there's the possibility," Schefter noted when referring to an active trade market. "Like just like there were a ton of trades at the trade deadline that we mentioned earlier here, we may get some more trades that people aren't necessarily expecting, and I think we've seen, proven over and over again, that these GMs and front offices are not afraid of making deals."

The new league year beginning is one of the more exciting times on the NFL's offseason calendar. It puts every franchise on a playing field with each's goal to get better, but some have more resources in hand than others. Pittsburgh is one of the teams to keep an eye on because of everything that Khan currently has to work with.

Steelers Have Plenty Of Different Avenues To Take

If Khan decides to be aggressive and make a trade or two, the search doesn't have to be limited to one position. Pittsburgh has needs at over five positions. While the big move may be acquiring a starting wide receiver, fans shouldn't scoff at the idea of the front office trading for a cornerback, safety, or even offensive lineman. There are plenty of possibilities moving forward for the Steelers.
