Steelers Set To Fix Huge Problem In The Passing Game During 2026 Offseason

The Pittsburgh Steelers are an interesting organization in the NFL as the team has made plenty of "win now" moves throughout the 2026 offseason. It can be argued that the roster is better on paper than it was at this time during the 2025 offseason, but the quarterback position is once again a major question mark. It is thought that Aaron Rodgers will be the starter once again in 2026, but nothing is confirmed as the organization awaits a decision on his future. In the meantime, the franchise is building up the roster, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Pittsburgh added DK Metcalf during the 2025 offseason, and the organization went out and acquired Michael Pittman Jr. in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts earlier this month. Pittsburgh was able to bring in Pittman for just a late-round pick swap as the Colts were looking to dump his salary, and the Steelers were able to take advantage of the situation. Pittman and Metcalf are both big-bodied wide receivers, and the Steelers could use an agile playmaker at the position that can make plays with the ball in his hands.

NFL Analyst Bucky Brooks dropped a mock draft on Wednesday, and he predicts the Steelers will fill that WR need with the 21st overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft by selecting KC Concepcion.

"Perhaps new head coach Mike McCarthy sees a little Randall Cobb in the Texas A&M standout," Brooks wrote. "Concepcion's playmaking skills as a catch-and-run specialist would add a new dimension to the Steelers' passing game."

Concepcion is seen as a first-round selection by most, although there has been some concern over his catching ability. He is special with the ball in his hands, and at 5โ€™11โ€, he is extremely shifty and can make defenders miss. This is something the Steelers have desperately needed on offense for a few years now, and the solution could come in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh would gladly take a player that could produce in the slot like Randall Cobb did for Mike McCarthy with the Green Bay Packers.

Former Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion participates in drills at the NFL's Scouting Combine during the 2026 offseason.

Concepcion spent three seasons at the college level, and he spent his first two seasons at NC State before transferring to Texas A&M for his final season. He led the conference in receiving touchdowns during the 2025 season, and he helped lead A&M to a berth in the College Football Playoff. Throughout his career, he hauled in 185 passes for over 2,200 yards and 25 touchdowns. He has been one of the best wide receivers at the college level over the last three seasons when it comes to pure production.

The young wide receiver was an All-American during the 2025 season and while he might not be the top wide receiver prospect, he is still a great option for the Steelers if he is on the board with the 21st overall pick.

The franchise should not feel satisfied with the current state of the wide receiver room. There is no guarantee that Roman Wilson will turn a corner with his development, which means the Steelers need to start looking elsewhere.

Steelers Likely Looking At Wide Receiver In The First Round Of The 2026 NFL Draft

Pittsburgh should not be satisfied at wide receiver as mentioned, and Pittman even stated during his introductory press conference that he figured the franchise would still be looking at other wide receivers. Concepcion should be an option in the first round, but a player like Makai Lemon or Jordyn Tyson somehow falling to the Steelers would be ideal. The franchise also has enough draft capital to move up for one of those players. Denzel Boston Jr. is another option in the first round, especially if receivers fly off the board quickly.

What do you think about adding Concepcion to the roster in Pittsburgh? Let me know on X, @brogannoey!
