The Pittsburgh Steelers are once again waiting on Aaron Rodgers. That was the case in the 2025 offseason, and it went on so long that it truly started to frustrate the fan base. Steelers General Manager Omar Khan made it clear he doesn't expect to have to wait that long in the 2026 offseason on Rodgers. It turns out the wait may have been worth it after all, as Rodgers helped guide Pittsburgh to a 10–7 record. He also led the Steelers to an AFC North title, something not many expected him to be able to do at this stage in his career.

Rodgers made it sound like 2025 would be his only season in the black and gold. However, he has been flirting with the idea of returning to the Steelers in 2026, potentially reuniting with his former head coach, Mike McCarthy. Rodgers played on a $13.65 million base salary in 2025, but former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch believes Rodgers’ camp is looking for something closer to $30 million for 2026.

NFL insider Adam Schefter quickly pushed back on that idea, claiming the delay between the Steelers and Rodgers has nothing to do with money and is solely about whether he wants to continue playing at this stage of his career. Batch, however, joined The Snap Count podcast with Trai Essex to double down on his stance, standing firm in his belief despite critics saying he does not know what he is talking about.

"There's a lot of people out there who say I have no idea what I'm talking about, but this is my 27th year in the NFL," Batch said while speaking on The Snap Count podcast. "I have been part of leadership teams. I have seen how things in the inner workings of an organization work. When you are three and a half weeks into free agency and you have not signed yet, that lets me know it's about money. If the Steelers did not want him, they would not be waiting on him. Again, why would you be waiting on him if it's not about the money?"

Batch wanted to highlight that he is not against Rodgers coming back.

Steelers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers looks into the distance with intense focus as he stands in street clothes while the team works out during a 2025 training camp practice at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA.

In fact, he is in favor of him coming back and getting more money for the 2026 season.

"I will stand on this ten toes down," Batch said. "He deserves a pay raise. He's not gonna play on the number he had last year. For people to say, 'He made a bunch of money. It's not about the money...' stop counting other people's pockets. This is about his services for this season. Right now, that number is not going to be $13 million. If you look at the rest of the league, he falls right into that $30 million range... I'm gonna continue to stand on this, regardless of if even Adam Schefter is saying, 'It's not a contractual situation.' Yes, it is... As long as you've been following this team, tell me the last time that the organization has waited for a player to make a decision."

Steelers Fans Should Find Out Soon About Aaron Rodgers

Khan made it known he did not expect it to take as long as it did in the 2025 offseason for Rodgers to decide.
