Steelers Fans Get Solid Confirmation That Teams Have Been Coming For Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting to see if veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be continuing his playing career in 2026 and if that will be with the Steelers. The quarterback has kept things close to the vest over the last two offseasons, and the organization has been very patient in allowing him to make his decision. The fan base has been fed up with the entire saga, and that was the case as well in 2025. Many would rather see the team move forward with either Will Howard or Drew Allar, even though Rodgers gives the Steelers the best chance to be competitive in 2026.

Rodgers has not signed with the Steelers yet, but it was reported that the quarterback traveled back to Pittsburgh over the weekend. The nature of his visit remains unknown, and no major news has come out regarding him meeting with the team or anything like that. The most recent news in the saga was that the franchise placed the right-of-first-refusal tender on Rodgers a few weeks ago. This is essentially an insurance policy for Pittsburgh. If the quarterback signs elsewhere, Pittsburgh would still be in line to receive a compensatory draft pick. It also prohibits Rodgers from signing anywhere else once training camp begins.

The idea of this tender being viewed as an insurance policy made many people speculate that other teams might be showing some interest in Rodgers, and that is why Pittsburgh put the tender into action. Nothing has been confirmed in that regard, but beat writer Mark Kaboly did confirm during an appearance on 93.7 The Fan on Monday morning that other teams have shown interest.

"Until it happens, you just have to think that something else could happen," Kaboly said. "Because there have been other teams snooping around. I don't know if that's been now, could have been a couple months ago, but there has been snooping. I don't think he was ever interested in something like that, but people did reach out to see where he was at, that I know of."

Kaboly did not expand on what teams may have been interested in bringing Rodgers on board, but there have been murmurs around the Arizona Cardinals and the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are dealing with Bo Nix who is returning from a serious ankle injury, and he just had to get a cleanup procedure. The Cardinals are the Cardinals, and their quarterback situation is just as much of a mess as the Steelers' is.

Kaboly went on to share that it doesn't seem like Rodgers has any interest in playing anywhere other than Pittsburgh, and that makes complete sense. If he wants to continue his playing career it would probably end up being his last season in the NFL, and he probably doesn't want that to come with a new team. Especially not with a franchise like the Cardinals. However, the fit in Arizona would be intriguing with some of his former coaches and a talented arsenal of offensive weapons.

Steelers And Aaron Rodgers Should Come To An Agreement Soon

Rodgers signed during the 2025 offseason right before mandatory minicamp began in June, and something similar should be expected this time around as well. The first day of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) is May 18th, and that is another date that people have been watching. The quarterback doesn't typically like to participate in OTAs, but maybe he will with a new coaching staff in town.

That would mean that his contract would be signed sometime within the next week. Time will tell.

What do you think about Kaboly saying other teams have been interested? Who do you think the other teams are? Let me know on X, @brogannoey!
