Steelers' Jaquan Brisker Sends The Browns A Strong Message Ahead Of Thursday Night Football Clash

The Pittsburgh Steelers found a way to take down the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of 30-27 on Sunday afternoon. The AFC North battle ended up determining which franchise would be atop the division standings. Despite all four organizations sitting with records of 2-1, Mike McCarthy's bunch has the victory in Week 3 to put itself in first. Now, the Cleveland Browns will be next up on Thursday Night Football. This contest means a lot more than some may have initially anticipated. Deshaun Watson is playing respectable football, so it's not going to be an easy task for the Steelers to travel on a short week and win.

This rivalry has always been a fascinating one to pay attention to. Pittsburgh has consistently been in playoff hunts for the majority of the 21st century. On the flip side, Cleveland has been one of the most inconsistent groups in all of football. Even though that has been the case for some time, the Browns always find ways to put up a good fight when going up against the Black and Gold.

NFL teams know their divisional opponents very well. That is one of the reasons for the constant close matchups and upsets that occur quite often. Todd Monken may be in his first year as the Browns' leader; however, he was with the Baltimore Ravens prior. So, he knows exactly what he will be going up against when the Steelers defense comes to town.

One newcomer to Pittsburgh's roster is safety Jaquan Brisker. The defender knows all about football in the Steel City because he is from the area. He is well aware of what it takes to come up with victories in the AFC North. On Monday, Brisker spoke to the media in the locker room and wasn't very shy about calling out the rivalry. The Browns don't like the Steelers, and vice versa, but Pittsburgh is expecting to come out on top following Thursday's showdown.

"You know, I know the rivalry's tough," Brisker said. "I know they hate us and things like that. We don't like them neither. When I was growing up, the Steelers was winning a lot, so that's what I'm used to and that's what we're going to continue to do."

In December of 2025, when Brisker was still with the Chicago Bears, all the Steelers needed to do was win in Cleveland to clinch the division. However, the Browns came to play, and upset Pittsburgh. This led to a pivotal Week 18 matchup against the Ravens, which is something that was not expected heading into Week 17. Overall, it's fair to say that the Browns have been overlooked quite a bit by the other three franchises in the AFC North.

Brisker wasn't shy about reminding everyone in Cleveland that the Steelers win football games a lot more consistently. There is no love lost between the two organizations, so Thursday should be an extremely fun contest. The fact that both squads are 2-1 and the winner will be atop the standings makes it even more important.

Pittsburgh can't afford to come out slow against the Browns. This was the case too many times under former head coach Mike Tomlin. McCarthy would please the fan base if his collective could go on the road and come out with a big statement victory.

Steelers Have A Chance To Be In Great AFC North Spot

If Pittsburgh is able to avoid getting upset on Thursday and takes down Cleveland, it wouldn't just lead to a 3-1 start on the year. The Steelers would also be 2-0 in the AFC North. Getting off to that kind of start, especially when the Ravens aren't on the schedule until December, would be huge for the franchise. This may not be the same ol' Browns, however, McCarthy's guys will need to bring their best and back up exactly what Brisker said on Monday.
