Pickett was interviewed on Tuesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show to talk about his draft experience, adjusting from college to the NFL, his familiarity with the Steelers, and more!
McAfee asked Pickett about his relationship with Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin:
“Tomlin and you, how’s the relationship? Good dap ups I assume. I heard he’s a great s**t talker, I assume you are, as well. How’s your relationship with Coach T?”
Pickett responded while laughing:
“He’s been great man, he’s everything you could expect. You know, he coaches you hard, same with Coach [Matt] Canada. He actually recruited me to Pitt and I never got a chance to play for him. Now, I can finally get that opportunity to play for him. But it’s been great. Like you said, he is a great s**t talker, we go back and forth, he asks us if we’re ever going to throw the ball down the field and I’m like, ‘Man, you’re playing all of this zone, play some man to man, and we’ll try to put it over your head.'”
“So, I’m excited to get to camp and continue to get to compete with him and the defense. It’s a good competitive atmosphere, man, everyone’s going at it, every single day. It’s really what you want in teammates and to be on a great team like that.”
Stay tuned to watch the headlining QB battle in Pittsburgh unfold starting in Latrobe, July 26th!
