NFL Analyst Tells Absolutely False Story Revealing Diontae Johnson Punched Mitch Trubisky In The Face

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky is still under contract for one more year and no one is quite sure if the organization will keep him around to backup Kenny Pickett or release him due to his near $11 million cap hit. Regardless, Pickett has the keys to the kingdom and Trubisky is not going to be starting, barring injury. Head coach, Mike Tomlin made the move at halftime of a Week 4 contest versus the New York Jets and part of the reason for his benching may have been an altercation with wide receiver, Diontae Johnson.

Allegedly, there may be a little more to the story than everyone at home thought. NFL radio host, Gregg Giannotti seemed liked he dropped an absolute bombshell on Friday morning when he spoke about the Week 4 benching of Trubisky on the Morning Show with Boomer and Gio

Giannotti had spoken to team captain and defensive lineman Cameron Heyward recently and asked him how the team lost to the Jets:

"I was under the weather that week, I think we had a bug going around in the locker room."

Giannotti said he then went to one of his buddies in Pittsburgh and asked if he had heard about the Steelers possibly having an illness being passed around. Well, according to Giannotti and his source, the bug wasn't what he was thinking:

"The bug in the locker room was that wide receiver, Diontae Johnson punched Mitch Trubisky in the face that week. And that was the bug going on in the locker room."

Allegedly, this was one of the main reasons that Pickett ended up taking over for Trubisky.

"That's part of the reason why Trubisky ended up being benched. Because it was like this horrible interaction between the two of them," Giannotti said.

There is absolutely nowhere else this has been reported. It's hard to believe that Johnson wouldn't have been disciplined in any way if he was physical with a teammate. The original report and belief all along has been that the altercation between the two was strictly verbal.

Giannotti claims that the physicality of the argument was talked about on local radio shows in Pittsburgh, which has also not been validated as the truth. Regardless, if this was something that took place and swept under the rug, that is a whole different issue and topic with how Tomlin handled the situation. That doesn't seem to be the case, however.

Steelers Wide Receiver Diontae Johnson Refutes Giannotti's Claim

Johnson even chimed in shortly after on Twitter and quoted Dov Kleiman's tweet about the matter, which is now deleted. There is nothing to back up this claim and seems like it is Giannotti looking to stir the pot and get some clicks.
