Whenever the Pittsburgh Steelers are going through a losing streak like the three-game one they are currently dealing with, fans will always reminisce about the legendary quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. When Roethlisberger was in town for 18 seasons, Steeler Nation always felt like they had a chance to win a Super Bowl every season. There were even some far-fetched wishes that maybe Roethlisberger could come back for one more season to help the struggling Steelers' offense a season ago, but that ship had very clearly sailed. Roethlisberger is enjoying life in his retirement, where he hosts his tremendous podcast Footbahlin With Ben Roethlisberger, aired on the Channel Seven YouTube channel.

While the dream of seeing Roethlisberger ever play in the NFL again is long gone, the Steelers legend hasn’t forgotten the fans who supported him throughout his incredible career. On Sunday, Roethlisberger took to Instagram to share a heartwarming message with Steelers fans. The post served as a touching reminder of the bond he still shares with the city of Pittsburgh and its passionate football community.
In his message, Roethlisberger shared a video of him passing football with his children. Even in retirement, Roethlisberger’s connection to Steeler Nation remains as strong as ever.
Roethlisberger gave Steelers fans countless unforgettable memories throughout his legendary career. He led Pittsburgh to two Super Bowl victories, earned six Pro Bowl selections, and consistently delivered elite performances. Over 18 seasons, Roethlisberger completed 64.4% of his passes, threw for 64,088 yards, 418 touchdowns, and 211 interceptions, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest quarterbacks in franchise history.
With a career record of 165-81-1, Roethlisberger was a natural-born winner who never shied away from big moments. He had an unmatched ability to bounce back from mistakes, often following an interception with a clutch, game-winning drive. Fearless in the pocket and unshaken by adversity, Roethlisberger embodied toughness and resilience every time he took the field. He was the perfect quarterback for the city of Pittsburgh.

While he wasn’t the most athletic quarterback in the league, his mobility was always a factor defenses had to respect. Roethlisberger’s 13-10 postseason record speaks volumes about his ability to perform under pressure when the stakes were at their highest. His career remains a shining example of grit, leadership, and excellence.
Roethlisberger always gave the Steelers a chance to win, and since his retirement, the organization has struggled to find stability at the quarterback position.
Steelers Still Searching For The Future Of Their Franchise At Quarterback
After relying on his greatness for nearly two decades, questions have emerged about whether Pittsburgh even knows how to properly develop quarterbacks in the post-Roethlisberger era.
This uncertainty has been a lingering shadow over the tenures of Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph, both of whom failed to solidify themselves as long-term answers. There's no doubt the Steelers would be in a much better position today if they still had a prime Roethlisberger under center. Still, it’s heartwarming to see him throwing a football in a Steelers jersey with his family, even if it’s just for fun.

The Steelers are currently riding a three-game losing streak and are desperate for a victory to close out the 2024 regular season. With their playoff spot already secured, a win over the Cincinnati Bengals would provide much-needed momentum heading into the postseason. The alternative—entering the playoffs on the heels of four straight losses—would be far from ideal for a team looking to make a deep run.
