The Pittsburgh Steelers were thankful for veteran defensive back Eric Rowe's contributions during the end of the 2023 season. Rowe stepped up when the Steelers' safety position was decimated by injuries, delivering crushing hits and showing his value in limited action. His performance during that stretch left a lasting impression, and Steelers fans became hopeful to see more of him in 2024. However, despite those expectations, Rowe was placed on the practice squad for the 2024 season and was never called up for game action.

Although Rowe didn't see the field in the 2024 season, his efforts in 2023 didn't go unnoticed. His physicality and ability to step in when the team was most vulnerable showed his resilience and readiness. Rowe's brief time on the field earned him the respect of both teammates and fans, solidifying his place in Steelers lore as a reliable depth piece.

In a recent appearance on the Bleacher Brothers podcast, Rowe revealed that he is currently in talks with the Steelers. This news sparked excitement among Steelers fans, as it suggests a potential return to Pittsburgh in 2025. While Rowe's immediate future with the team is still uncertain, his ongoing conversations with the Steelers could signal an opportunity for him to rejoin the team.

"I’m talking to the Steelers," Rowe said. "I’d love to go back. I like their culture up there if they want me back."

Rowe's journey through the NFL has been nothing short of remarkable, marked by significant achievements and notable career moves. After being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft (47th overall), Rowe quickly made a name for himself.

However, his time in Philadelphia was brief, as he was traded to the New England Patriots after just one season. It was with the Patriots that Rowe had the opportunity to be a part of one of the most memorable Super Bowl victories in history. In Super Bowl LI, Rowe played an important role on the defensive side as the Patriots mounted a historic comeback to defeat the Atlanta Falcons, capping off a remarkable season and earning his first Super Bowl ring.

In March 2019, Rowe’s career took another turn when the Miami Dolphins signed him to a one-year, $3.50 million deal. His time with the Dolphins allowed him to continue showcasing his skills, and his ability to provide solid depth at the defensive back position didn’t go unnoticed.

Over the years, Rowe has also spent time with the Carolina Panthers, and of course, the Steelers, where he found a supportive system and a coaching staff that valued his veteran presence and versatility. Now, at 32 years old, Rowe is hoping for one final shot to prove himself in Pittsburgh.

With his experience, leadership, and two Super Bowl rings under his belt, Rowe is more determined than ever to make the most of any opportunity the Steelers might offer. As he continues to stay in talks with the team for a potential return in 2025, Rowe is optimistic about the possibility of having a more prominent role and helping the Steelers contend for another championship.
