The Pittsburgh Steelers have had an incredibly interesting 2025 offseason to this point. As the new league year was about to get started, General Manager Omar Khan made a massive trade to land DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks. This was done while having no clue who would be the team's starting quarterback in 2025, and that is still the case nearly a week later. As free agency begins to settle down, it's hard to imagine any of the leftover available offensive players wanting to come to the Steel City because there is absolutely no stability at the signal-caller position.

Fans got excited when they believed that All-Pro fullback Kyle Juszczyk would be making his way to Pittsburgh, but after his free-agent visit, he left without a deal. This is normally not a good sign for things to come and Adam Schefter has reported on Saturday morning that the versatile offensive player is electing to stay at home with the San Francisco 49ers.

Juszczyk would have been a nice weapon to have on the offense for the Steelers. He is a true fullback, unlike Connor Heyward, and has the ability to make defenses think twice. It's clear that Pittsburgh wanted someone with his skills, but money talks and so does the situation. It's apparent that Juszczyk thought that the 49ers had more to offer in both of those categories.
Paying a guy like Juszczyk $4 million per year over two seasons doesn't feel like a lot, and the Steelers have enough cap space to make that kind of offer. It's possible the fullback and his camp used the visit to Pittsburgh to gain a little bit of leverage on San Francisco. Overall, whatever Khan and co. were selling was not enough to land the nine-time Pro Bowler in free agency.

Steelers May Not Get Far With Leftover Offensive Free Agents Without A Quarterback
The most important position in all of football, and maybe even sports, is quarterback. Pittsburgh has more questions than answers in that category, which could have some available names questioning if the Steel City is the right place to play in 2025. As the Aaron Rodgers saga continues to play out, it's possible that the Steelers won't be able to recruit any more top-tier offensive free agents like Juszczyk.
