The Pittsburgh Steelers have been at the center of conversation throughout this offseason. They've made several impactful roster moves, including the departure of some key players and the addition of some too. One of the most talked about changes was the recent trade of wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. Pickens’ exit has created a noticeable gap in the Steelers' wide receiver group, raising questions about how the team will address the gap moving forward.

Plenty of people have weighed in with their opinions on who should step in to fill the gap left in the Steelers’ wide receiver corps. With several free agents still available and the potential for a trade, there are multiple options the team could explore. However, during a recent chat session, Steelers Insider Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette shared that the team may take its time before making any moves to address the position.

"I think they eventually will sign another WR [wide receiver], but I think they want to wait to see what [Aaron] Rodgers does," Fittipaldo shared. "Is Keenan Allen a good fit for him and this offense? I honestly don't know the answer to that question, but Rodgers wants his WRs to be very detailed. Maybe Allen would be a good fit. Or maybe Gabe Davis. But I don't think that move happens until the Steelers know what's going on with Rodgers."

Both Keenan Allen and Gabe Davis are among the notable free agent wide receivers whose names have surfaced in speculation surrounding the Steelers. Many believe that signing an experienced receiver like Allen, who brings veteran leadership and consistent production, or Davis, known for his big-play potential and strong presence in key games, could be a smart addition. However, it appears that this all hinges on Aaron Rodgers' decision.

It’s no secret that the Steelers are considered the frontrunners to land the veteran quarterback. However, it’s felt like an eternity since the initial rumors began linking him to Pittsburgh. The prolonged wait for Rodgers to make a decision has stirred a mix of emotions among fans, ranging from anxious anticipation to frustration and confusion, as many are left wondering what’s causing the delay and when a final answer will come.

There’s also been a surge of speculation that the Steelers might fill the gap in their wide receiver corps with one of Rodgers’ former teammates. In the NFL, an established connection between a quarterback and receiver can be a major asset, and bringing in a familiar face could make Pittsburgh a more appealing destination if Rodgers is truly still unsure. When asked about the possibility of acquiring Romeo Doubs, a current Green Bay Packers player and former teammate of Rodgers, Fittipaldo appeared to support the idea, suggesting it’s a move worth considering.

"He's got some baggage, but if Rodgers vouches for him, what's the harm of acquiring him? He's in the final year of his rookie deal," Fittipaldo responded. "If it doesn't work out, you simply don't bring him back."

Doubs is known for his ability to make contested catches and his effectiveness on deep routes, making him a reliable target downfield. Doubs' versatility allows him to line up both outside and in the slot, offering flexibility in offensive schemes. His presence would not only fill the void left by Pickens, but also provide a dependable option for the Steelers' quarterback, whether it's Rodgers or someone else.

The Steelers Still Do Not Have An Official Deadline For Rodgers

As the wait for Rodgers' decision continues, several rumored deadlines have already come and gone without resolution. The latest reported timeline suggests a decision could come before mandatory offseason activities begin, but the Steelers organization has yet to confirm anything publicly. Their calm and patient approach may signal quiet confidence that Rodgers will eventually sign. However, if Pittsburgh is truly holding off on making further moves until Rodgers makes it official, it raises the question of whether a firm deadline needs to be enforced. In the fast-paced world of the NFL, waiting too long could cost the Steelers a chance at signing top-tier talent, leaving them with fewer options as time goes on.
