All eyes now turn to Rodgers and the Steelers as they prepare for the 2025 season in the Steel City. The future Hall of Famer brings leadership, poise, and a championship mindset to a franchise that has been desperate for consistency at quarterback. With Rodgers at the helm, the Steelers immediately become a serious contender in the AFC, and expectations across the fan base have skyrocketed.

Rodgers spoke with the media on Tuesday about his decision and pointed to Head Coach Mike Tomlin as the key factor that drew him to Pittsburgh. Known across the league for his leadership and stability, Tomlin’s presence was a major influence on Rodgers during the decision-making process. It’s a pairing that many believe could bring the Steelers back to championship form, and training camp cannot come soon enough.

"A big attraction was Mike Tomlin," Rodgers said. "I have gone against him over the years. The way that the conversations went between him and me in March and April, and last Sunday when I called him. Those were some of the coolest conversations I have had in the game, definitely with a head coach. He’s a big reason I am here. I believe in him and I am excited to play for him."

Rodgers spoke with the media on Tuesday about his decision and pointed to Tomlin as the driving force behind his move to Pittsburgh. While Tomlin has faced heavy criticism from Steeler Nation in recent years for failing to win a playoff game since the 2016 season, Rodgers sees him differently.

Despite the outside noise, the veteran quarterback views Tomlin as one of the legendary voices in football and made it clear that joining forces with him was a major reason he chose the Steelers.

"You know, I think it starts with Mike Tomlin," Rodgers said. "I have been a fan of his for a long time. There are a few iconic franchises in the NFL. I played for one of them for 18 years [Green Bay Packers]. This is another one of those... We have had some great conversations, and I just really appreciated the way that he [Tomlin] treated me throughout the process."

For Steelers fans, it was exciting to finally hear from Rodgers in-depth as he spoke at length about football and his decision to join Pittsburgh. After weeks of speculation, hearing Rodgers reflect on his journey and express genuine enthusiasm for the opportunity was a moment many in Steeler Nation had been waiting for.

It was especially meaningful to learn that Tomlin played such a significant role in Rodgers' choice to come to Pittsburgh for the 2025 season.

Steelers' Mike Tomlin And Aaron Rodgers Could Form A Dynamic Duo

Throughout his career with the Green Bay Packers and more recently with the New York Jets, Rodgers has had several memorable matchups against Tomlin and the Steelers. Over those years of competition, Rodgers developed a deep respect and admiration for Tomlin’s leadership, demeanor, and approach to the game. That mutual respect laid the foundation for what Rodgers now sees as an opportunity to do something special.
