Steelers Great Joey Porter Sr. Backs Up His Past Trash Talk: "Not Going To Let Me Off The Hook"

The Pittsburgh Steelers have always been built around defense. That will not change in 2025, as Pittsburgh is projected to have a top defensive unit in all of football. Many players are expected to thrive, as Joey Porter Jr. will look to follow in his father's footsteps and shine throughout 2025.

Porter is entering his third NFL season, as the rising star will look to solidify himself as a key piece in Pittsburgh's secondary. Porter's father will also be inducted into the Steelers' Hall of Honor as well, as Joey Porter Sr. was an elite linebacker throughout his eight seasons in Pittsburgh. Porter Sr. was credited with three Pro Bowl appearances throughout his time with the Steelers, as the legendary linebacker played a major role in Pittsburgh's 2006 Super Bowl victory.

Porter Sr. was asked for his thoughts on being inducted into the Hall of Honor, as the Steeler legend went on to speak about today's game and how trash talking has evolved since his time in the NFL.

"If I run my mouth the way I run my mouth, I still got to meet with all of y'all." Porter Sr. stated. "And you're not going to let me off the hook"

Porter Sr. then went on to speak about how trash talking has evolved, as the former linebacker claims he would always put pressure on himself to back up his actions on the field.

"I would put the pressure on myself to answer for everything I did."

Porter Sr. was nothing short of a star throughout his time with the Steelers, as Porter Jr. will look to play at a high level as well throughout 2025. Porter Jr. was credited with an up and down season in 2024, as the young cornerback flashed multiple signs of potential last year. With Porter Sr. officially inducted into Pittsburgh's Hall of Honor, the team is expected to turn their full attention towards training camp as head coach Mike Tomlin and his staff continue their preparation for next season.

Porter Jr. is expected to take on a key role next season, as the former Penn State star is expected to be a top cornerback in the Steelers' secondary throughout 2025. Porter Jr. should benefit from the presence of superstar cornerback Jalen Ramsey as well, as the veteran is expected to be an excellent mentor towards the rising star. With training camp officially underway, fans should continue to keep a close eye on Porter Jr.'s performance throughout the upcoming weeks.

Ramsey has thrived throughout every stage of his career, as the veteran will be slated with multiple roles on the Steelers' defense in 2025.

With Porter Jr. set to thrive playing alongside Ramsey, the Steelers are expected to continue evaluating both cornerbacks throughout the course of training camp. Ramsey could be faced with an additional on-field role as well, as the veteran has been rumored to take snaps at free safety during camp. Porter Jr. will look to break out in 2025, as the rising star has continued to flash his full potential over the past few seasons.

Porter Sr. officially finds himself in the Hall of Honor following an electric career, as the legendary linebacker is rewarded for his crucial role on the Steelers' defense over his eight seasons in Pittsburgh. 

Porter Jr. is entering the most important season of his young career, as the former Nittany Lion will look to solidify himself as a long term option in Pittsburgh's secondary.
