The Pittsburgh Steelers have not at all been shy when it comes to dabbling in the trade market under current General Manager Omar Khan. The front office has consistently been aggressive and ready to make a move if it makes sense in the moment. It has been refreshing for fans to see the team turn into one of the more trade-happy organizations throughout the entire NFL. With training camp wrapped up and franchises preparing for the regular season, it's not an impossible theory to believe that Khan and co. will continue on an exhilarating path, as any deal could commence at any moment.

One of the more interesting situations that took place during the Steelers' training camp period were the hold-ins of both Cam Heyward and Chris Boswell. The organization needs both players to be successful, but a rookie stepped in to fill the shoes of Boswell specifically, which sparked a little bit of conversation. Ben Sauls out of the University of Pittsburgh impressed during exhibition contests.
With roster cutdowns set for Tuesday, it's quite evident that the Steelers won't be interested in keeping two kickers on the roster. However, if a trade partner were to emerge for Sauls, it could absolutely be considered, and rightfully so. For the Miami Dolphins, they may suddenly panic due to news that broke on Monday about Jason Sanders' hip.
Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders is expected to be sidelined 4-5 weeks with a hip injury, per source. Miami will need a new kicker for the start of the season.

It's not ideal for Sanders to be expecting to miss over a month of the regular season, but it opens up a potential avenue for a deal between Miami and Pittsburgh to happen again. The pieces seem to be moving in that direction.

A former Pitt Panther, Sauls had a strong preseason, including going 4-of-4 on field goals Thursday night at Carolina.
With Boswell healthy and ending his hold-in, there's no reason for the Steelers not to accept a late-round pick for Sauls' services. After Tom Pelissero's reporting on the organization's plans, it may be the front office throwing a little bone in the direction of the Dolphins.

This is a perfect example of what a strong preseason period can do for a rookie like Sauls. It's very possible that he could earn a starting job due to an injury elsewhere and while he may not stick around, he could have the opportunity to put more on film for other NFL franchises. It is very difficult to land a specialist job at the NFL level, so all the young kicker will be asking for is a chance. The Dolphins may give him that.
While dealing Sauls wouldn't net Pittsburgh anything more than a late-round pick, it would be better than nothing, especially for a player that is set to be placed on waivers. The news of Sanders' injury along with the report from Pelissero allow fans to paint a clear picture in their heads: the Dolphins and Steelers may be headed for a trade once again.

Steelers Gave Ben Sauls The Opportunity Of A Lifetime
Pittsburgh typically keeps two kickers on the roster throughout training camp and the preseason. It tends to keep Boswell on his toes, but also allows the franchise to get familiar with someone else in case. Now, after performing at a high level, it's completely possible for Sauls to land a starting job in Week 1 due to other happenings around the league, and he will likely always be grateful to the Steelers for the chance to put his work on game film.
