The Pittsburgh Steelers' offense will need to be at their best in Week 3 against an elite New England Patriots' secondary. Aaron Rodgers followed up his impressive Week 1 performance with an underwhelming showing against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2, as the veteran will need to play at a higher level on Sunday against the Patriots. The Steelers will look for big performances out of the back field as well, as Jaylen Warren will be a key component to the Steelers' offense throughout the course off the game.

Warren has looked like an excellent ball-carrier throughout the first two games in 2025. Warren is credited with a total of 85 rushing yards on 25 carries so far this season and has taken full advantage of no longer playing behind Najee Harris. Warren could quickly find himself being much more involved in the offense as his production increases, as NFL analyst Jon Gruden recently shared his thoughts as to what he thinks about Warren's 2025 campaign so far.

"I think Warren needs to get 20 carries, 17-20 carries." Gruden stated. "And I think he needs to be featured in the passing game."

Gruden continued to praise Warren for his performances so far, as he claims Warren is the best skill player currently on the Steelers' roster.

"He is their best player, skill wise, on the Steelers right now."

Warren has taken full advantage of being the Steelers' running back 1 (RB1) for the first time in his career. The talented running back has received the majority of the carries in 2025 over Kaleb Johnson and Kenneth Gainwell, as Warren's role in the offense could continue to get even larger as the season progresses. Warren has seen success in the passing game so far this season as well, as the promising running back was credited with a huge catch and run that resulted in a Steelers' red zone trip late in the third quarter.

Warren will need to be a focal point on the Steelers' offense in Week 3 against the Patriots. New England has one of the better secondaries in all of football, as Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis will almost certainly have their hands full with DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin lll throughout the majority of the afternoon.

The Steelers will need to utilize their run game to the best of their ability on Sunday as Warren is in prime position for another big game against New England.

Steelers Expected To Continue Increasing Warren's Workload As The Season Progresses

Warren saw an increase in touches from Week 1 to Week 2. The talented running back should continue to see more touches as the season rolls on, as Warren could quickly find himself becoming an absolute workhouse in the Steelers' back field. Warren has been involved in the passing game throughout the first two weeks of the season as well and could rapidly emerge as one of the most important pieces on Pittsburgh's offensive unit.

Warren was credited with 22 yards on two receptions in Week 1 and 86 yards on four receptions in Week 2. The promising running back led the team in receiving yards in the home opener against Seattle, as Warren was able to have one of the better performances of his career. Warren will look to lead the Steelers' back field once again in Week 3 as the running back may find himself with an increase in touches moving forward.

Gruden's comments on Warren are very promising to see. Warren is a young and talented running back that could continue to play at an elite level throughout 2025, as he has taken full advantage of being the Steelers' top running back for the first time in his career. Warren and the rest of Pittsburgh's offensive unit will need to get off to a quick start against an elite Patriots' defense in Week 3 as the young running back will look to perform at an elite level once again.
