The Pittsburgh Steelers' defense was nothing short of great against the Minnesota Vikings in Ireland for Week 4. Pittsburgh was able to secure a thrilling victory in the clash as the defensive unit was credited with a total of six sacks and two interceptions throughout the early morning matchup. The defense as a whole had one of their better performances of the 2025 season on Sunday as the unit will now look to relax and make a full recovery during the bye week.

The Steelers had multiple key defenders step up during Sunday's win. Superstar linebacker TJ Watt was able to secure a sack and an interception as the veteran now has a total of three sacks on the young season. The defensive unit was unable to leave Ireland unscathed however, as Jalen Ramsey suffered a hamstring injury during the victory. Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen was recently asked about Ramsey's setback and was able to go in-depth in regards to how important Ramsey is to the team as a whole. Queen spoke about Ramsey's impact on the secondary, as the veteran linebacker emphasized that having Ramsey on the field is essential.

"Yeah, that's a guy we need," Queen stated. "The things [Ramsey] can do on the field, line up in different spots, do different things, blitz, cover, whatever it may be -- he can get into the run game."

Queen continued to talk about how important the bye week will be for Ramsey's recovery process, as the star cornerback will look to get healthy as soon as possible.

"It's a guy we definitely need, and this bye week is going to be huge for that," Queen explained. "However much time he needs, he's going to have to take because we're going to need him down here late in the season."

Ramsey was acquired during the offseason in a deal with the Miami Dolphins. The Steelers traded Minkah Fitzpatrick to Miami in exchange of Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith as the trade left social media and fans all over the NFL world in a state of shock. Ramsey is expected to play a crucial role in the Steelers' secondary for the remainder of the season despite potentially missing the next few weeks of action.

Ramsey solidified himself as the Steelers' top cornerback the moment the trade was finalized. The former Dolphin has remained as one of the best cornerbacks in all of football for the majority of his career, as Ramsey's presence in Pittsburgh's secondary will be deeply missed until he returns.

Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. Expected To Return Soon

The Steelers have a promising mix of young and veteran players in the secondary that will need to step up while Ramsey remains out. Joey Porter Jr. has been battling an injury himself since Week 1, but he is expected to return after the bye week. With Ramsey likely out for a few games, it will be nice for Pittsburgh to at least have their other star cornerback back on the field. Porter was the Steelers' second-round pick in 2023, as the promising cornerback has shown flashes of his true potential throughout his first two seasons in the NFL.

Pittsburgh's secondary has not been fully healthy at any point this year so far. Porter has appeared in just one game over the first month of the season, as safety DeShon Elliott was sidelined for two weeks after suffering a knee injury Week 1 as well. Elliott was able to play at an elite level against the Vikings on Sunday as the talented defensive back recorded a forced fumble and an interception throughout the victory overseas.

Queen's comments surrounding Ramsey's importance to the team are encouraging to hear. The bye week comes at a perfect time for the veteran cornerback, as Ramsey will look to recover and get fully healthy as quick as possible. The Steelers will face the Cleveland Browns in Week 6 as Porter and Elliott will need to play at a high level with the absence of Ramsey.
