The Pittsburgh Steelers seem to always be connected to any disgruntled wide receiver around the NFL. This stems from General Manager Omar Khan's aggressiveness, as well as the team's need for another high-level wide receiver to pair with DK Metcalf. Pittsburgh had that with George Pickens, but the organization traded him away, as it never seemed like the two would end up playing with one another cooperatively. This had led the fan base to lobby for a move for another wide receiver, and one of the best in the league could be available as he continues to show signs of being unhappy with where he currently is.

AJ Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles has been in the headlines a ton throughout the first part of the 2025 season. His production has not been what was expected, and he hasn't really had many opportunities to shine. Jalen Hurts has struggled to throw the football, while the offense has tried to go through Saquon Barkley on the ground. Philadelphia started the year off 4-0, so those problems didn't seem that big early on, but after back-to-back losses, including one to an inferior in-division opponent, it is clear things are not going well with the Eagles at the moment.
After Philly lost to the Denver Broncos last Sunday, it was reported that there was a meeting held between Brown, Barkley, and Hurts. Barkley and Hurts confirmed Brown was there, but the wide receiver seemed a little more distant while speaking to the media after Thursday night's loss.
"I don't recall a meeting," Brown said. "I don't know what you're talking about. Nope, you need to talk to them. I don't recall."
Hurts and Barkley confirmed the trio had a meeting through a media appearance, and it went on for a decent amount of time. However, Brown did not seem to want to acknowledge it following the loss to the New York Giants.

Brown's headlines this season have been amplified now that the Eagles have lost consecutive games. There has been rumors about Brown and Hurts not being on the same page, and Brown being unhappy with his usage within Philadelphia's offense. He has had multiple games with under 10 receiving yards during the 2025 season, which is typically unheard of from a receiver of his caliber.

Hurts has not played well when having to throw the ball during the 2025 season, and there was a clear example of that against the Giants. New York's defense was showing Cover 0, which is man-to-man coverage across the board. Brown had clear leverage on his matchup and plenty of field to work with. Hurts instead attempted to fire a pass to the left sideline that was picked off and essentially sealed the game.

Steelers Landing AJ Brown Is A Long Shot
It is highly unlikely that the Eagles would be willing to part ways with Brown, but if he continues to make headlines that paint the team in a bad light, there might be a world where Philadelphia decides to part ways with the star. On Friday however, Brown addressed his "meeting" with Hurts and Barkley.
Just to clear this up. That wasn’t a meeting or a sit-down. I said “I don’t recall” because it got painted like there was tension and Sa had to step in. That’s not true. I was walking to my car, saw them, and stopped to talk. Nothing more.

As Brown has tried to clear up any confusion, it's clear that tension still remains in Philadelphia. If he were ever to be officially on the move, this would be an expensive acquisition for Pittsburgh, as acquiring Brown would likely highly result in moving on from a ton of draft capital, and it would also take a significant financial commitment as the receiver is under contract through 2029.
