The Pittsburgh Steelers were riding high in the 2024 season for some time. Fans and analysts alike were optimistic as the team showed flashes of potential, but it all came to an abrupt end when Russell Wilson and the Steelers as a whole couldn’t break the losing streak. Their season concluded with a brutal playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens, extending the team’s drought in the postseason. Under Mike Tomlin, the Steelers have not won a playoff game since the 2016 season, a fact that has weighed heavily on the organization and its loyal fanbase.

Star defensive lineman Cam Heyward has been particularly vocal about his hunger for more postseason success. Known for his leadership on and off the field, Heyward has consistently emphasized the importance of finishing what the team starts. The frustrations of 2024 have only fueled his determination, and he’s made it clear that the Steelers are not content with near misses. For Heyward, the goal is simple: build a team capable of competing deep into the playoffs.
Speaking with members of the Pittsburgh media on Tuesday, Heyward highlighted why he believes the 2025 roster is better suited for a playoff run than its 2024 counterpart. He pointed to improvements across the offense and defense, including strengthened depth, key acquisitions, and the growing chemistry among the team’s core players. Heyward’s confidence in the roster is matched by his commitment to leading by example, signaling that the Steelers are determined to make 2025 a turning point and end the postseason drought once and for all.
"I just think we're a more together group," Heyward said while speaking on the Steelers YouTube channel on Tuesday. "More fun, is winning more games, but just being around each other a lot more."
Heyward made it clear that the easiest way to enjoy football is by winning games. So far in the 2025 season, the Steelers have done just that. They are sitting at 4-1 and have taken the lead in the AFC North division. Still, not all Steelers fans are fully confident, as a similar situation unfolded last year. Many remain concerned about a potential falloff, given how the 2024 season started strong but ended in disappointment.

The good news for Pittsburgh this time around is that the team is led by four-time league MVP Aaron Rodgers. Now 41 years old, Rodgers has looked sharp to start the season, and his experience and leadership could make all the difference. If he can stay healthy, this Steelers team can certainly be considered a contender as the 2025 season progresses.
Steelers Team Chemistry Is At An All-Time High
Even more encouraging is that the team chemistry is reportedly at an all-time high. That cohesion is a major advantage for a roster with Super Bowl aspirations, and it could be the key factor that sets this team apart from previous seasons. With the right mix of talent, leadership, and unity, the Steelers are in a strong position to turn potential into real success.

When it was first reported that the Steelers were going all-in to try and land Rodgers in the 2025 offseason, many fans were skeptical. There were concerns that the polarizing quarterback might bring more drama than help to the team. So far, however, the opposite has been true. Rodgers has been an ideal leader and has clearly played a key role in strengthening the team’s chemistry.
