The Pittsburgh Steelers currently lack depth at wide receiver. The Steelers have been one of many teams in recent weeks that are rumored to be on the market for a receiver. Pittsburgh has a tight end room featuring two major targets in Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith, but the Steelers could opt to add depth behind Metcalf prior to the trade deadline on November 4th.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport recently revealed that the Steelers are currently on the market for a wide receiver, as Rapoport claims Pittsburgh could add a second option to pair behind Metcalf.

Rapoport claimed that adding a receiver could help Aaron Rodgers immensely.

"The Steelers are, once again, in the market for a receiver, sources say." Rapoport wrote. "Their offense has thrived by featuring multiple tight ends, but the addition of a speed threat to pair with DK Metcalf would help Aaron Rodgers and the offense."

The Steelers have been rumored to add depth at wide receiver for a number of months now. Austin has produced solid numbers as the second receiver behind Metcalf but he has remained sidelined in recent weeks. Pittsburgh could trade for a wide receiver in the near future as the trade deadline continues to grow closer.

The Steelers' tight end room has been excellent in recent weeks. Freiermuth was credited with 111 yards and two touchdowns on five receptions in the loss on Thursday night, and Smith made a serious impact as well. General Manager Omar Khan and his staff could trade for a wide receiver prior to the deadline but both tight ends may continue to make an impact as well.

Steelers' Top Trade Target Could Be Off The Table Amid Serious Contract Talks

Khan and his staff could target a number of different receivers over the next few weeks. Chris Olave has emerged as a top trade candidate around the NFL world recently as the receiver would be an excellent fit in Pittsburgh. The New Orleans Saints have struggled to begin the season and the team could quickly opt to move Olave in exchange of draft compensation.

Olave to Pittsburgh may be too good to be true however, as the Saints have reportedly been trying to work out a long term contract with the receiver despite his name being attached to multiple teams.

Olave was the Saints' first-round selection in 2022 and is currently still on his rookie contract as multiple teams around the league have been linked to the receiver in recent weeks. The receiver has yet to sign a long term deal in New Orleans and fans are encouraged to keep a close eye on Olave prior to the trade deadline on November 4th.

The Steelers have been rumored to be in the market for adding depth at wide receiver for the majority of the you g season. A number of different receivers remain available on the market despite Olave's current status, and Pittsburgh could make a trade for a receiver very soon. The Steelers will host the Green Bay Packers next weekend for Sunday Night Football as Pittsburgh will look to send a message to the entire NFL.
