The Pittsburgh Steelers fan base took notice of the Week 8 contest as soon as the 2025 schedule was announced. The Steelers were set to host the Green Bay Packers at Acrisure Stadium, but the matchup drew extra attention because of the swirling rumors that Pittsburgh was pursuing Aaron Rodgers. The storyline literally wrote itself: Rodgers returning to face the team he spent 18 seasons with, winning four MVPs and a Super Bowl along the way, had fans and media alike wondering if the NFL had insider knowledge about Rodgers’ impending move to Pittsburgh. The intrigue alone added a layer of anticipation to the Week 8 showdown.

It ended up working out, as Rodgers did indeed become the Steelers’ quarterback and has played a major role in Pittsburgh’s offensive success this season. The team currently sits at 4-2, coming off a narrow 33-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, but Rodgers has hardly been the problem. In fact, he has been a key part of the solution, orchestrating the offense and keeping the Steelers competitive in high-pressure games. His leadership and experience have immediately elevated the team’s play, giving Pittsburgh fans plenty of reasons to be optimistic heading into the matchup with Green Bay.

If Pittsburgh wants to defeat the Packers on Sunday night, protecting Rodgers from Micah Parsons and the rest of Green Bay’s pass rush will be crucial. Parsons, who spoke to Green Bay media ahead of the game, acknowledged the challenge of facing a quarterback of Rodgers’ caliber. Parsons made sure to pay his respect to Rodgers by calling him one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game.

"We just gotta make it a challenge and confuse it and just get after them," Parsons said on Thursday via the Packers' YouTube channel. "It is gonna be a tough matchup, but you always get excited for those when you're playing GOATs like that."

The Steelers’ offensive line will need to hold up, receivers will have to create separation quickly, and Rodgers will need time to make his reads.

As for Parsons, he's not losing any sleep over one of Rodgers' greatest traits.

"I'm not worried at all," Parsons said. "I don't go to bed thinking about that cadence sh**."

With the season at a turning point and a spotlight on one of the NFL’s most compelling quarterback stories, Sunday night promises to be a must-watch contest for Steeler Nation

Packers' Parsons Explains How To Stop Steelers' Rodgers

The Steelers are projected by DraftKings Sportsbook to lose this game by a slim three-point margin. That’s telling, considering Pittsburgh is the home team, suggesting the books believe Green Bay has a significantly better chance of coming away with the win. Parsons explained how he wants the Packers to limit Rodgers.

"I would say don't let Rodgers get to his spot," Parsons said. "I would say when he's in sync, it's like poetry. Every throw's on the money, everything's in sync. You have to find ways to disrupt the tendencies, disrupt the spot, disrupt the way where he twists. If he can't throw off his foot the right way, those types of little things."

Rodgers has completed 68.6% of his passes for 1,270 yards, throwing 14 touchdowns and five interceptions. He’ll need to protect the football and get it out quickly if he wants to take down the team where he built his Hall of Fame career.
