The Pittsburgh Steelers will not escape any kind of trade rumors until the official deadline for the 2025 season has passed in the afternoon on November 4th. General Manager Omar Khan has refused to be conservative since taking over the role as head of the front office, which has kept fans on their toes for multiple years now. The franchise's clear need might be at the wide receiver position, but the defense hasn't played as well as it was expected to when the 2025 campaign kicked off. There are several avenues the team could go, and one is actually doing nothing at all.

NFL insiders and reporters are very active this time of year because of how many different discussions are transpiring behind the scenes between organizations. It will be a very busy couple of weeks as the league has more parity than it has in some time. Anyone can become victorious on every given game day, so a lot of front offices probably believe a postseason run is on the table.

Tony Pauline is a respected insider with a variety of sources, and gave an update on what he is hearing as Week 8 rolls along. The Steelers were very relevant in his Friday morning article, suggesting that Khan could be targeting one of two former first-round talents.

"Two names I am hearing as trade targets [for the Steelers] are Jaylen Waddle of the Miami Dolphins and Calvin Ridley of the Tennessee Titans," Pauline wrote. "According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the Dolphins don't plan on trading Waddle, but that could change if Miami continues to lose and the right deal is placed in front of them."

Both Jaylen Waddle and Calvin Ridley would be pretty decent splashes for Pittsburgh. Both have the ability to step into the Steelers' offense and immediately make an impact. Pauline gave some more information regarding the two wideouts.

"Waddle's contract, which has a huge number in 2027, could also be a hurdle teams must overcome. Ridley has not been very productive this season and won't cost much in terms of draft picks."

Khan can typically work around any kind of cap situation, but the long-term effects of any move doesn't just have to do with financials. Landing someone like Waddle may cause a team to give up multiple draft selections, rather than just one. For Ridley, one pick may be enough to acquire him.

Pauline emphasized that the Steelers have had some interest in the two former first-rounders, but Waddle and Ridley aren't the only two playmakers that could possibly find themselves playing in the Steel City sometime soon. There is another individual playing for the Las Vegas Raiders that has heard his name brought up when Khan is in the conversation. Talks may even be further along than any with the Miami Dolphins or Tennessee Titans.

"The other name to keep an eye on is Jakobi Meyers, who wants out of Las Vegas, whose name has consistently been linked to the Steelers," Pauline noted. "Sources tell me there is legitimacy on a Meyers to Pittsburgh deal, though other teams have inquired about the Raiders wide out."

Jakobi Meyers would be a great fit in the Steelers' offense. His desire for a new contract may hamper some things, but the front office could promise to revisit the discussions right when the season ends, so the former undrafted wideout is compensated accordingly at Pittsburgh's second option in the passing game behind DK Metcalf.

Steelers May Be Content With Current Offensive Setup

Pittsburgh has surprisingly been a consistent and dynamic offense this season. It may not make sense to give up draft capital to bring someone else in because it could mess up the current flow. On the other side of things, an unfortunate injury to Metcalf could leave Khan and co. regretting that they did not pursue another wide receiver more aggressively at the deadline.
