The Pittsburgh Steelers had every fan on pins and needles as they were searching for who their quarterback would be for the 2025 season. After Aaron Rodgers finally revealed that he would be teaming up with Mike Tomlin to join the Steelers, excitement swept across Pittsburgh. Fans couldn’t wait to see the new wide receiver duo of DK Metcalf and George Pickens take the field together. Unfortunately, that pairing never materialized as the Steelers traded Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys during the 2025 offseason. While Metcalf and Rodgers have quickly developed strong chemistry, many analysts believe Pittsburgh still needs another dynamic playmaker to complete their passing attack.

That is where trade rumors have begun to swirl. Three of the most talked about and intriguing names linked to the Steelers are New Orleans Saints star Chris Olave, Miami Dolphins speedster Jaylen Waddle, and Las Vegas Raiders standout Jakobi Meyers. Each brings a unique skill set that could perfectly complement Metcalf, with Olave’s precise route-running, Waddle’s game-breaking speed, and Meyers’ reliability and toughness over the middle. The Steelers front office has reportedly explored various trade scenarios, and with Rodgers now under center, there is a growing sense of urgency to capitalize on their current championship window.

In a new article from ESPN insiders Matt Bowen and Jeremy Fowler, the Steelers' percentage chances of landing each of these receivers were revealed, and the results might surprise fans. The article broke down the likelihood of each trade coming to fruition by evaluating cap flexibility, team needs, and existing front office relationships.

For the Saints, it was revealed in the article that General Manager Mickey Loomis typically does not like to trade players. However, the fact that New Orleans sits at 1-6 makes a potential Olave trade more likely. The San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants were also listed as teams that could pursue Olave, but according to Fowler and Bowen, there is only a 20 percent chance he is traded.

Fowler noted that after speaking with several executives around the league, the likelihood of the Dolphins trading away Waddle sits around 10 percent. The only two teams he identified as realistic trade destinations for Waddle are the Giants and the Steelers.

As for Meyers, he presents the highest percentage chance of being moved at 35 percent. Meyers has reportedly wanted out since the start of the 2025 season, and with the Raiders struggling, that desire has not changed. Given his situation and the Steelers’ need for another proven wide receiver, Meyers appears to be the most likely trade target for General Manager Omar Khan and Pittsburgh.

While no move is guaranteed, the numbers provided a fascinating glimpse into how realistic each potential deal could be, leaving Steeler Nation buzzing about which star receiver could soon be catching passes from Rodgers in black and gold.

Steelers May Not Need To Make Any Calls For A Wide Receiver

The Steelers head into Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers. This contest will be played at home at Acrisure Stadium and gives Rodgers a chance to face off against the team he spent 18 seasons with. As the trade deadline continues to approach, many fans are curious if he will get new weapons before November 4, when the deadline hits.

While many believe the Steelers are in desperate need of help at wide receiver, others disagree. Ben Roethlisberger has expressed that the team is just fine and that the real issues lie on defense. It'll be interesting to see if Khan agrees or if he makes a bold move to trade for a high-end wide receiver.
