Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Roman Wilson has quietly been waiting for a true opportunity to break out since he was drafted. A third-round pick in 2024, Wilson has battled a number of different injuries over the early stages of his NFL career, but the route-runner still has a lot of potential. The Steelers' offense as a whole has been playing excellent football lately, and Wilson was able to put together his best game of the season so far against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7.

Wilson caught both of his targets for 17 yards during the matchup with the Bengals. Wilson was targeted twice for just the second time all season, but he was able to produce at least a little bit with the workload he was given.

The former third-round pick recently took a moment to speak with the media in regard to the recent trade rumors, as he claimed the speculation leading up to the deadline is nothing new to him. Wilson was very careful in how he worded his thoughts.

"Since I've been here, since the day I was drafted, there's been speculation, so it's nothing new to me," Wilson stated.

Wilson continued to talk about the effect it has on himself and the other receivers in the locker room as well.

"It's always been like that. I feel like it's something you just always deal with, but it doesn't really affect me," Wilson noted. "I don't think it affects any of the other receivers as well."

Wilson has not had many opportunities through the first eight weeks of play. He had a clear response to the trade rumors following his efforts last Thursday night, and Wilson will hope to expand his role on the offense if Pittsburgh doesn't opt to trade for an additional receiver. The wideout appears to be confident amid the trade speculation, but was able to make his presence known in the matchup with the Bengals.

Wilson's confidence appears to be on the rise following his efforts in Cincinnati. The receiver is finally healthy following numerous injuries throughout his rookie season and will try to remain relevant in the offense.. The pass-catcher's message to the Steelers' front office prior to the trade deadline is clear, and Wilson will look to build upon his Week 7 performance.

The November 4th trade deadline is right around the corner. The Steelers have been rumored to show interest in various receivers around the league, but with Austin returning from injury and Wilson's slowly coming around, the team could decide to carry out the 2025 season with the talent that is already on the roster.

Wilson will have an excellent opportunity to follow up somewhat meaningful effort in Cincinnati with another big game against the Green Bay Packers in Pittsburgh on Sunday night.

Steelers' Roman Wilson Could Take Full Advantage Of The Packers' Weak Secondary

Wilson should enter Sunday night's matchup with a little bit of confidence. The Packers' secondary has been a major problem for the unit as a whole in recent weeks, and Wilson could easily find himself taking another step forward if he is able to take advantage. The Steelers have already ruled veteran wide receiver Scotty Miller out of Sunday's contest as well, so Wilson will need to establish his presence as early as possible throughout the matchup.

Wilson and the Steelers' offense as a whole could continue to roll against the Packers on Sunday night. Wilson should have an increased opportunity once again this week with Miller sidelined, and the second-year receiver may be a top target throughout the contest alongside DK Metcalf and Austin. The Steelers will host the Packers in Pittsburgh for Sunday Night Football and Wilson may very well build upon recent growth.
