The Pittsburgh Steelers honored the 2005 Super Bowl Champions on Sunday in their annual Alumni Weekend ceremony. There were two legendary quarterbacks on the field, Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers. Roethlisberger led the Steelers to 165 wins in his career, and Rodgers helped lead the Steelers to a 27-20 upset win over the Indianapolis Colts. Steelers fans were fortunate to watch a future Hall of Famer in Roethlisberger lead the offense for 18 seasons, and Rodgers acknowledged Roethlisberger's greatness and legacy following Sunday's win.

Numerous members of the Steelers’ 2005 Super Bowl championship team were in town to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their memorable season. Roethlisberger not only attended the ceremony at Acrisure Stadium, but also made a stop at the Steelers’ practice earlier in the week.

His presence was met with excitement from both current players and fans alike, as his leadership and influence are still deeply felt within the organization.

During his postgame press conference, Rodgers spoke highly of Roethlisberger and the impact he had on the franchise, reflecting the mutual respect between the two quarterbacks.

"This is a Big Ben team, I’m just happy to be a part of the organization," Rodgers said.

With Roethlisberger in attendance, Rodgers led the Steelers to a big win against the Colts despite a subpar performance from the offense. Rodgers completed 25 of 35 pass attempts for 203 yards and a touchdown pass to Pat Freiermuth. Rodgers knows the offense has to perform better in order to continue to be successful, but it did just enough to get the win against one of the top teams in the National Football League.

Rodgers and Roethlisberger faced each other three times in their careers, with their most memorable matchup coming in Super Bowl XLV. In that game, Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a 31-25 victory over Roethlisberger and the Steelers. Despite the rivalry, Rodgers has always expressed admiration for Roethlisberger’s play.

“One of my favorite Big Ben moments was the drive in the Super Bowl against Arizona,” Rodgers recalled. “Coming down and hitting Santonio in the corner of the end zone on a beautiful pass with a great toe tap. I enjoyed watching him play over the years because he wasn’t the fastest guy, but he was hard to take down. He was always swinging that ball around and keeping plays alive.”

Roethlisberger has been a supporter of Rodgers since his arrival in Pittsburgh, and both quarterbacks have openly acknowledged each other’s greatness. Steelers fans have a lot to be proud of, from the memories of Big Ben’s career to the excitement of watching Rodgers lead the team today. Moments like these make you appreciate the history of the team, the legends who paved the way, and the potential of what's ahead.

Steeler Nation has embraced both quarterbacks for their respective contributions. Roethlisberger gave the city nearly two decades of unforgettable moments, including multiple playoff runs and two Super Bowl victories. Rodgers has already demonstrated his ability to impact games in meaningful ways, including the recent win over the Colts that visibly reenergized the team and fanbase.

Steelers Legend Ben Roethlisberger Will Be Honored Again In December

The Steelers will honor Roethlisberger once more this season, as he and fellow teammates Joey Porter and Maurkice Pouncey will be the newest inductees into the Steelers' Hall of Honor.

A dinner ceremony will be held at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday, December 14th, where teammates, coaches, and fans will gather to celebrate their achievements.
