Steelers Great James Harrison The Victim Of Absurd Shots After Allegations Against Patriots Dynasty

The Pittsburgh Steelers were one of the more dominant teams in the NFL throughout the 2000s and early-2010s. The franchise appeared in three Super Bowls and won two of them, and the team was considered a legitimate contender pretty much every season after Ben Roethlisberger came in at quarterback. This led to Pittsburgh forming a few different rivalries within the AFC as it seemed to always be the same teams competing for the right to represent the conference in the Super Bowl. It was nearly always Pittsburgh, the Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, or the New England Patriots.

New England seemed to always have Pittsburgh's number, specifically in the playoffs. New England is widely considered to have had the greatest dynasty of all time as the team won six Super Bowls while Tom Brady was the quarterback, with the first Lombardi Trophy coming at the end of the 2001 season and the last coming at the end of the 2018 season.

Another member of some of those teams was cornerback Asante Samuel, who recently addressed some comments from James Harrison on his show Say What Needs To Be Said. The comments accused New England of cheating against Pittsburgh back in 2004.

"It sounds like we had better coaching than you brother," Samuel said. "And it's so sad to hear you cry about it now."

Harrison stated that New England knew all of Pittsburgh's signals during their playoff matchup back at the end of the 2004 season. The Steelers lost the game by a score of 41-27 and the Patriots advanced to the Super Bowl. This was right around the time of "Spygate," and Harrison believed the Patriots stole the Steelers' signals and knew everything that was coming at them.

Samuel was stating that the Patriots just figured out Pittsburgh's defense, and he always stated that signals that are seen from the sideline are completely fair game. That is true, and if the Steelers did not change their signals before playing New England for the second time that season, then that is on the Pittsburgh coaching staff. Samuel continued piling on Harrison, eventually even going at Roethlisberger.

"I'm sorry there a levels of greatness, and a lot of athletes didn't get to experience my levels of greatness," Samuel said. "And James Harrison, I'm sorry, you are one of them brother. Just because Tom Brady or the coach recognized your poorly disguised defensive scheme, you think we cheated? If you think Big Ben was so great, just imagine how great Tom Brady would have been for you."

This comment doesn't make too much sense coming from Samuel. Harrison has more All-Pro nods, Pro Bowls, and also won the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year Award, and made one of the most iconic plays in the history of the Super Bowl. Both players have two rings, but Harrison played in more Super Bowls and had a longer career. Samuel didn't even see a second contract from the team that drafted him. It seems like Samuel didn't really do much research on Harrison before choosing to go at his legacy, or even have a simple understanding of the NFL from the time that he played.

Steelers Now Have Asante Samuel Jr. On The Roster

Asante Samuel Sr. has run his mouth a lot about his battles with the Steelers from his time with the Patriots, and now his son is going to be playing in Pittsburgh. Asante Samuel Jr. signed to Pittsburgh's practice squad on Wednesday, and he is expected to be elevated sooner rather than later.

Steelers' Asante Samuel Jr. celebrates with Derwin James after a big play during the 2022 playoffs as a member of the Los Angeles Chargers.

He has not played since the beginning of the 2024 season, but he should get an opportunity soon while wearing the black and gold.
