Report: Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Looked "Really Good" In Practice Setting Stage To Play Sunday

The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing a ton of questions ahead of their Week 12 matchup with the Chicago Bears. The team is facing some adversity in the injury department as both the starting quarterback and running back are dealing with something. Running back Jaylen Warren suffered an ankle injury in the second half of the team's win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers is questionable after suffering a slight break in his wrist during the first half of that same game. Rodgers didn't play at all in the second half, but he has a chance to return in Week 12.

Rodgers has always been known to be rather tough at the quarterback position. The veteran has played through injuries before and he has rushed back from injuries in the past as well. That is what he is attempting to do so he can take the field to play the Bears on Sunday. The quarterback did not practice on Wednesday, but he did return to the field on Thursday. NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported on Good Morning Football on Friday morning that the injured quarterback looked good during practice, and he detailed what needs to happen for him to be cleared to play in Chicago.

"He returned to practice on Thursday, officially listed as limited, as he pushes to play despite a fracture in his left wrist," Pelissero said. "Mike Tomlin has said that the keys are bracing it for the safety and comfortability of Aaron Rogers, and the second part is, 'How functional is he?' My understanding is Rodgers looked really good in practice on Thursday. He has acknowledged there might be some things they have to do differently, might be more comfortable, for instance, to take snaps in the shotgun as opposed to under center. Still needs final medical clearance. That decision could come as soon as today."

Pelissero was able to confirm that Rodgers did practice on Thursday, and the four-time league MVP reportedly looked good, despite playing through his slightly fractured wrist. The number one priority for Pittsburgh when it comes to Rodgers playing or not playing is going to be whether or not the quarterback is comfortable, and if the coaching staff is confident that the team has a good plan for the offense to be effective, while also protecting Rodgers.

Pelissero also said that a decision could be made on Rodgers' status for game day as early as Friday, although he still needs to be medically cleared to play. As long as the Steelers have a good plan for Rodgers and believe in the way he was practicing, there is no reason to think he wouldn't be on the field on Sunday. The quarterback is expected to be wearing a brace of some kind on his wrist, and as long as Rodgers can still be efficient while wearing that, he should be the starter on Sunday.

Mason Rudolph filled in well for Rodgers in the second half of the win against the Bengals, but he also got a ton of help from the defense in the victory. Rudolph was still solid and the offense looked good while being run with him under center as the group scored points on each of the two possessions he was under center.

Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Likely Has Extra Motivation In Week 12

Rodgers has a long and illustrious history with the Bears, as he squared off against them twice a year for most of his career. The quarterback is often said to "own" the Bears as he was dominant over them within the NFC North, especially while playing on the road in Chicago.

He could be looking to add to that resume as he attempts to play through a wrist injury on Sunday.
