"If You Don't Want Me Here, Send Me Somewhere Else": 1 Steelers Star Absolutely Should Ask For A Trade After 2025

The Pittsburgh Steelers looked completely lost on the field against the Cleveland Browns in their Week 17 matchup. Pittsburgh lost 13-6 in a game in which only one touchdown was scored all game long, that being an early score by the Browns with 5:11 left in the second quarter. The Steelers were unable to keep up offensively, as both teams played incredibly well on the defensive side of the ball. This game ensured that the Week 18 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens is a win or go home contest for both teams.

One of the more puzzling questions after the loss to the Browns centers around the offensive play-calling throughout the entire game. In particular, the usage of certain, recently acquired players, leading to the lack of usage of players that most would consider far more important to the offense, still doesn't sit well with Steelers fans and other key figures in the media. One of these players that got far less usage than necessary is Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth. Freiermuth had three receptions for 63 yards in the game, with two of those receptions coming on the final drive that got the Steelers all the way to the goal line -- but wasn't targeted again as the offense went flat.

On the latest episode of the Kaboly & Mack show, hosts Mark Kaboly and Chris Mack were debating similar aspects of the Steelers' offense, and why it fell flat when the circumstances mattered the most late in the game. As their conversation continued, Mack gave his own thoughts on what he believed Freiermuth should do at the end of the season, especially if he does not get many targets against the Ravens.

"Well, I'll say this," Mack began. "If I were Pat Freiermuth, after the way I've been used, or lack of a better way to put it, not used this year, and I weren't utilized a good bit in this Baltimore game, like, I would have to, and he would do it quietly, and if I were him, I'd do it quietly too, I would go to them and be like, 'Guys if you don't want me here, send me somewhere else. If you're not going to use me here, send me somewhere else. 'Cause I'm in the middle of this contract and the prime of my career. You're paying me like a top 10 tight end; I can perform like a top 10 tight end in this league. If I don't fit in this offense's plans, fine, send me somewhere I do fit in.'"

Mack's comment shows how volatile the situation could be if the Steelers don't adjust their game plans to account for one of the better receiving tight ends in the league. The Steelers were able to move down the field with no resistance on their final drive, in which Freiermuth was the primary target all the way to the red zone. With the loss of tight end Darnell Washington for the foreseeable future due to the broken arm he sustained against the Browns, it's now more important than ever that the game plan involves Freiermuth in a big way.

Freiermuth will become one of the top skill position players the Steelers have on offense against the Ravens, and to prevent the hypothetical situation that Mack referenced from occurring, the Steelers need to figure out a new plan on offense against the Ravens.

Steelers Need To Stick With What Works On Offense

The Steelers ran into issues on offense when they tried to get away from the players that were having the most success, and the game plan that was having the most success. Against the Ravens, the Steelers need to keep the focus on the running game, along with impact plays from guys like Freiermuth. Being able to have success from one of the best players on the team will be the way the Steelers win the AFC North and advance to the playoffs.
