The Pittsburgh Steelers have more questions than answers at this point in the 2026 offseason. This comes after long-time head coach Mike Tomlin revealed to the team and fans that he would be stepping away from coaching after 19 seasons at the helm. Tomlin’s departure leaves a massive leadership void in Pittsburgh, and the organization is now in the process of interviewing potential candidates to find its next great leader. The pressure is on to maintain the team’s winning culture while navigating a period of significant change.

One option that has generated buzz among Steeler Nation is Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. Murray is a controversial choice, having experienced both highs and lows during his NFL career. However, Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner appeared on the Bleav in Steelers podcast on Friday and revealed that he believes Murray is a quarterback worth considering. Warner’s endorsement adds an intriguing wrinkle to the conversation, suggesting that the Steelers might be open to a bold move in their pursuit of a franchise signal-caller.
"I don't think there is gonna be a lot of [quarterbacks]," Warner said while speaking on the podcast on Friday. "You know Kyler Murray is a guy, I am living here in Arizona. There's a lot of speculation that he is not gonna be coming back. What do they feel about him? You know he's a guy that has played at an MVP level during periods of his career. He's extremely gifted and talented. Is that a guy that may be out there? Are they interested in that?"
Murray has now played seven seasons in the NFL since being selected first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. When healthy, he has shown flashes of brilliance, but his career has also been marked by concerns about work ethic and stretches of inconsistent film.

Still, he has achieved notable milestones, including becoming the first player in NFL history to record 70+ passing touchdowns and 20+ rushing touchdowns within his first three seasons.
Steelers' Omar Khan Could Make A Risky Move To Land Kyler Murray
Murray is a talented dual-threat quarterback, and if he can put everything together, he remains an intriguing option. However, many Steelers fans would likely prefer a younger quarterback and a player with fewer question marks than Murray would bring while attempting to make the transition to the Steel City. When fully locked in, the MVP-level potential is clearly there for Murray, but it would represent a significant risk for Khan.

That said, it is a risk Warner clearly believes is worth considering, and his endorsement carries weight. Whether Pittsburgh ultimately pursues Murray or chooses a different direction, the discussion highlights just how open and uncertain the Steelers’ quarterback situation remains heading into the 2026 offseason.
