The Pittsburgh Steelers may be focused on the current task at hand with the free agency period and 2026 NFL Draft approaching, but other questions remain unanswered. After former Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin resigned, a move that shocked everyone in the fan base, plenty of people wondered what would be in store for him in the next chapter. Plenty of pundits have claimed that Tomlin will move onto a TV network, while others believe he could end up coaching elsewhere within a season or two.

However, while people have been attempting to speculate on Tomlin's future plans, there are those who believe that Tomlin currently has no plans at the moment. With most of the speculation surrounding Tomlin being centered on his next chapter, this news will certainly give doubts to the speculators and raise even more questions about what could be next for Tomlin.
While speaking on Not Just Football With Cam Heyward, insider Jay Glazer dropped many hints about Tomlin's future, and some of his remarks are insightful as to what the former coach's future plans could contain (both now, and into the future). The remarks also hint at the fact that there will eventually be more to discuss in time, but as for now, Tomlin's plans seem solidified.
"Right now, I say, I think he's DONE done," Glazer noted. "But everyone who says, 'He's going to TV!' He's not even close to this. But, it's not even there. I said to him, 'Hey, if we do TV, are you gonna use your agent?' And he's like, 'F*** no.' I said, 'Well I gotta get you an agent,' and he said, 'Yeah. When the time's right, you tell me who to go with.' We're not even there. We're months away from talking about it."
Glazer's remarks seem to indicate that Tomlin wants to enjoy the time away from coaching, which is perfectly understandable, given his tenure with the Steelers. Tomlin was able to accomplish a great deal with the Black and Gold, and will go down as one of the best coaches the franchise has ever seen. Even though the end of his time with the franchise left a lot to be desired in terms of playoff wins, Tomlin will still be a celebrated figure among the franchise in retirement.

When Tomlin left the Steelers, his departure ushered in the most change the franchise has seen since Tomlin took over for former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher back in 2007. Many believed that Tomlin would want to take a TV deal to potentially talk about the Steelers and the changes that new head coach Mike McCarthy had brought to the organization, but Glazer's comments seem to do away with that notion.
Tomlin was loved by his players, and many of them did not want to see him leave the team. Many believed that Tomlin may have simply wanted to resign from the Steelers, wait a year, and then become a head coach for a different franchise. However, it seems as if this option is also completely off the table, at least for now, as Glazer's comments indicate that Tomlin will want to wait a while before thinking about the next step.
No matter what Tomlin decides he's going to do in the future, the current Steelers team can honor his legacy as head coach by continuing the winning tradition.
Steelers Must Remain Competitive Under Mike McCarthy
Tomlin was well known for getting the most out of whatever roster he had in a season. If the Steelers want to emulate Tomlin's winning ways, this offseason will set the tone on whether the Steelers will be able to continue winning and putting themselves in position for the playoffs. Tomlin was able to take subpar rosters to winning records, so with time, McCarthy will hopefully be able to do the same.
