Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Receives Immense Praise From Key Offensive Teammate: "Still Has All The Juice"

The Pittsburgh Steelers' lack of consistent quarterback play the last several years has been costly.  In today's NFL, if you want to be amongst the league's elite teams, you have to have a franchise-caliber QB. Pittsburgh unfortunately has struggled to find that consistent piece ever since Ben Roethlisberger retired. Pittsburgh, prior to Roethlisberger's retirement, never worried about the QB play throughout his career. Now the story is different.

The hope that fans have is that Aaron Rodgers can provide one last year of elite play before he retires. This past season in 2025, Rodgers showed many flashes of brilliance, despite an overall underwhelming offense. He was not the main reason for the offensive struggles however, as his play was the least of the team's worries.

Roster construction was among the problems last season and ultimately caused the issues on the offensive side of the ball. Lack of receiving depth, and an inconsistent run game did Rodgers no favors and forced him into having to do something special most games to get the offense moving. Play-calling was a major reason as well, and it made the unit predictable and easy to stop, which led to quick 3-and-outs and short possessions. That ultimately trickled down to the defense and ultimately affected the entire team.

The hope this season is that with a new system brought in by new head coach Mike McCarthy, he can help bring one last season of elite play out of Rodgers. That brings us to Steelers star tight end Pat Freiermuth, who is still impressed by the veteran QB. He was recently interviewed via Steelers.com and gave his thoughts on the situation.

"The past two days, he's hit a field post at DK [Metcalf] and Roman [Wilson], so it's been pretty impressive to see that he still has all the juice left in his arm," Freiermuth explained.

This is huge hearing about the arm strength that Rodgers still has, and it will certainly pay dividends for not only the offense, but the whole team. Another piece to think about with Rodgers is the route concepts he will have at his disposal. Last season under former offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, the route trees were very limited, and it caused the options for Rodgers to become very predictable for opposing defenses. The hope under McCarthy is that the entire offensive scheme grows and the options for Rodgers become plentiful.

Adding Michael Pittman Jr. to pair with DK Metcalf will certainly help and force the focus of opposing defenses to be in different spots, rather than on one singular person on the offense. The hope is that Pittman and Metcalf only get better while playing with each other. As many people say, iron sharpens iron, and this is what Pittsburgh is hoping for between the two weapons at Rodgers' disposal.

Steelers Are Hopeful For More Red Zone Success From Rodgers

Last season, Pittsburgh ranked 11th in red zone efficiency, and they're hopeful for more of the same success. Rodgers' options only become more plentiful under the new offensive scheme and the added weapons. Newly signed running back Rico Dowdle, and Jaylen Warren are both threats on the ground and through the air. On top of that threat, tight end Darnell Washington is a lethal target when Pittsburgh gets into opponents' territory.

All of these targets are going to be utilized under McCarthy's offense. Rodgers is looking for one more great season to cap off his Hall of Fame-caliber career, and Pittsburgh fans feel the same way. Both parties have high hopes and if they remain on the same page, the success should increase. Ultimately, Pittsburgh's hope falls to Rodgers and the play that they get out of him. If Rodgers can ball out his last season, Pittsburgh's playoff hopes will take a huge leap.
