The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the many teams in the NFL that have been connected to quarterback prospect Brendan Sorsby. He is unexpectedly entering the NFL via the Supplemental Draft after getting hit with gambling allegations during the 2026 offseason. He could have come out in the 2026 NFL Draft, but he signed a $5 million NIL deal to play his final college season at Texas Tech. He was ruled ineligible, but was then granted an injunction that would have allowed him to play in 2026 following a two-game suspension. The university and Sorsby caught a lot of heat for that, and shortly after, it was announced that he would be applying for the Supplemental Draft.

There has been a ton of speculation about where Sorsby might get drafted. It was widely believed that he would have wound up being a first-round pick in 2027, but a Supplemental Draft is completely different. Teams are split into three tiers, and teams then bid what they would give up in the 2027 NFL Draft to land him. Whoever wins the bidding war has to forfeit that selection in 2027. Teams with multiple picks in the second or first round are being watched.
The Steelers have done their homework on Sorsby, but that is mainly due to the fact that the franchise was scouting him a bit already for the 2027 NFL Draft. Now the organization has a chance to land him in the Supplemental Draft, and beat writer Mark Kaboly believes the team will put an offer in. He was on 93.7 The Fan on Monday, and he shared that the team will be at his Pro Day and submitting an offer.
"There will be somebody there, I know that," Kaboly said. But the fact is, and I first heard this a month and a half, two months ago, at least they were doing their due diligence on the guy. I mean, I'm sure they're going to put an offer in so to speak, but I don't think it's going to be anything they have a chance of getting. What're they going to put in? 3rd, 4th, 5th. He'll end up going probably [in the second or third round], probably where he needs to go."
Kaboly confirmed that the Steelers will have someone present at Sorsby's Pro Day, and he believes that the organization is going to submit some sort of bid with the expectation being that the franchise will not land the controversial quarterback.

There has been speculation that teams like the Cleveland Browns or the New York Jets could lead the way by submitting a second round pick for Sorsby, and that could end up happening. A team like the Arizona Cardinals are probably one to watch as well.
Kaboly believes Pittsburgh's offer won't even come close to landing Sorsby. He suggests a third, but it will more than likely be a Day 3 selection. That is completely fine as there are probably some in the organization that would be completely against the Steelers going after a quarterback with such a checkered past.
Steelers Could Use Brendan Sorsby
The history with gambling is a major problem when it comes to Sorsby, but he was expected to be a pretty decent NFL quarterback. He is very mobile and has good accuracy, and some believe he was going to turn into an average NFL starter with the chance to be more. That is something the Steelers have been looking for at the quarterback position, but the team has not had average quarterback play in quite some time.

Sorsby seems like a long shot to fall to the Steelers, and the interest from the organization feels fake. It seems like it is all for show and the franchise actually has zero interest in the prospect. There is no point in going out of their way to scout somebody just to get purposely outbid.
What do you think about the Steelers submitting an offer for Sorsby? Let me know on X, @brogannoey!
