The Pittsburgh Steelers are eager to find out what this new era under Head Coach Mike McCarthy will look like in 2026. It's no secret that longtime head coach Mike Tomlin decided it was time to hang up the headset and ride off into the sunset. At least for now, Tomlin has stepped away from coaching, ushering in a new chapter with McCarthy leading the franchise. The Steelers did an excellent job improving their roster during the 2026 offseason, and many pundits believe the team is better than it was a year ago. That's a major reason for the optimism surrounding Pittsburgh as it enters a new era in black and gold.

One player the Steelers are especially excited about is veteran safety Jaquan Brisker, who signed a one-year, $5.5 million contract in free agency. The Pennsylvania native arrived in Pittsburgh on what is essentially a hometown, prove-it deal, giving both sides a great opportunity. Brisker is expected to make an immediate impact on Pittsburgh's defense and secondary.

On Thursday, however, an exciting video surfaced across social media showing retired NFL superstar Aaron Donald working with Brisker during a training session. Getting extra work in with one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history is a tremendous opportunity for Brisker. Donald's knowledge, technique, and attention to detail are second to none, and learning directly from him could help Brisker add new tools to his game as he prepares for his first season in Pittsburgh.

After the Cleveland Browns made the shocking decision to trade franchise cornerstone Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, speculation immediately began swirling about Donald potentially coming out of retirement at 35 years old. There has been some momentum behind the idea that Donald could return and team up with Garrett, creating what would, at least on paper, be one of the most dominant pass-rushing duos in NFL history.

No one truly knows whether Donald will actually end his retirement, but one thing is clear: he remains in outstanding shape. Few people would bet against him being able to step back onto an NFL field and perform at an elite level almost immediately.

Whether Donald returns to the Rams or stays retired won't have much of an impact on the Steelers' 2026 season. However, Brisker getting the opportunity to train and learn firsthand from arguably the greatest defensive player of the modern era is invaluable. Donald's experience, technique, and football IQ are second to none, making this a rare chance for Brisker to elevate his game ahead of his first season in Pittsburgh. It's an exciting development for Steeler Nation, and one they'll hope pays dividends once the regular season begins.

Steelers Hoping Brisker Becomes Key Defensive Piece

Pittsburgh signed Brisker with the expectation that he can bring physicality, leadership, and playmaking ability to the secondary. If he stays healthy and returns to the form he showed earlier in his career, he has the potential to become one of the defense's most important additions in 2026.

While Donald's future remains uncertain, Brisker can control how he prepares for his own. If the veteran safety is able to apply even a fraction of what he learned from the former Rams superstar, the Steelers could end up benefiting from one of the most valuable offseason training sessions of the summer.
