Meet The Steelers' Hidden 308-Pound Athletic Freak Nobody Is Talking About

The Pittsburgh Steelers entered the 2026 NFL Draft with an abundance of draft capital. Because of that, and the fact that the team added 10 new rookies to the Steel City, questions quickly started to surface about whether undrafted free agents would have a legitimate opportunity to crack the 53-man roster. It’s a fair question to ask considering the Steelers’ roster is already filled with competition, meaning there are only so many spots truly available for the taking.

As training camp continues to inch closer, the biggest storylines will revolve around these roster battles. For a player like Kevin Jobity Jr. out of Syracuse, going undrafted in 2026 did not seem like an ideal situation. At least, that was the initial thought. However, as the offseason has continued, Jobity has consistently earned praise, and his rare physical traits are starting to turn heads.

In a recent article for The Athletic, Steelers insider Mike DeFabo highlighted why Jobity could be one of the more intriguing undrafted players to monitor heading into training camp. While it would be unrealistic to expect an undrafted rookie to immediately become a major contributor, the athletic defensive lineman’s unique combination of size, length, and explosiveness is becoming harder to ignore.

"Jobity scored an 8.87 out of 10 on the Relative Athletic Score," DeFabo wrote. "Chances are, he’ll be a player stashed on the practice squad while the Steelers try to turn those elite testing numbers into NFL-level play. Still, the back half of the D-line depth chart isn’t impossible to crack, with Logan Lee and rookie sixth-round pick Gabriel Rubio on the fringe."

At 6-foot-4, 308 pounds with 33¼-inch arms, Jobity possesses the type of physical profile NFL teams love to develop. 

New Steelers defensive line coach Domata Peko will have an exciting project on his hands as he works to unlock the potential of one of the most physically gifted players fighting for a roster spot. This latest update from DeFabo has many wondering if Jobity could eventually turn into the next undrafted defensive line hidden gem.

"If Jobity jumps Rubio, he could have an outside shot," DeFabo said.

The path to making the 53-man roster as a rookie may not be as straightforward as Jobity deserves. The reality is that earning a spot on the final roster as an undrafted free agent is always an uphill battle, especially on a team like Pittsburgh that already has significant investment along the defensive line.

However, if Jobity is unable to jump another rookie defensive lineman, Gabriel Rubio, who was selected by the Steelers in the sixth round (210th overall) of the 2026 NFL Draft, Pittsburgh could have an ideal development plan. The Steelers could stash Jobity on the practice squad, allowing them to keep his rare physical traits in-house while giving him time to continue developing.

For a player with Jobity’s size, length, and athletic ability, the practice squad may not be a setback. It could actually be the perfect environment for the Steelers to develop a potential hidden gem without rushing him onto the field before he is ready. 

Of course, there is always a risk that another team could snatch a player away from the practice squad. If Jobity continues to showcase his rare athletic traits and potential throughout training camp and preseason, another organization could view him as a developmental player worth adding to their own roster. That is why the Steelers will have to carefully evaluate whether his upside is too valuable to risk losing.
