The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered a brutal loss on Sunday as the team fell to the New England Patriots. This was a game that the Patriots were supposed to win, but it would have been nice to see a bigger fight from the Steelers. The final score of the game was 20-3, and that means the offense for Pittsburgh has only scored 16 points through the first two weeks of the campaign. That is a concerning statistic, and there is no question that the coaching staff and players need to figure things out offensively if the team wants to have any chance of having success moving forward.

It seems like the Steelers do not have a great game plan put together offensively, and the players on the field are also struggling to execute. There were tons of mental errors in the loss including drops, blown assignments in protection, and penalties. The group never really got into a groove, and it was inefficient and unproductive for most of the day.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers spoke to the media after the loss, and kept a calm demeanor but also noted that the team needs to change some things. One thing he mentioned is more urgency.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game." Rodgers said. "We had our chances, our defense was playing excellent football, when they hold them to 13 points we have to win the game. So it's definitely on us to play better. But, you're not going to see me panic, I don't think Mike's going to panic. Urgency is going to go up a little bit for sure, but no panic."
Rodgers is not one to panic. He has always been calm throughout the course of a campaign, and he seems to have a good understanding of the fact that the regular season is full of peaks and valleys. It is a rollercoaster, and it is important to not overreact to a bad game or two. However, the offense will be acting with more urgency moving forward. Rodgers doesn't want anyone to panic, but already having to make offensive changes through two games is not a great sign.

When Rodgers speaks of urgency he likely means throughout the week of practice and preparation for any given opponent. The veteran quarterback also spoke about potentially cutting down the game plan, as he noted that there are some younger guys on the team, and it might be more beneficial to perfect a game plan that is smaller rather than trying to squeeze a bunch of different things in. Rodgers spoke more about urgency.
"Mike loves the guys, and he wants us to have some urgency and to bounce back from this, and I know we will." Rodgers said.
The veteran seems confident that the offense is going to be able to bounce back from this stretch of poor performances. It wasn't as big of a deal after Week 1 because the Steelers were able to get the win, but the weaknesses of the team are going to be highlighted even more so now after a brutal loss where all the Steelers could do was kick a field goal.
Steelers Face Another Tough Challenge In Week 3
Pittsburgh is going to be taking on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3, and the Bengals have been known to have a weak defense in recent years. That might not be the case in 2026 as Cincinnati has put together two impressive performances to begin the year. This is going to be a big game for the division as the Bengals sit at the top of the AFC North through two weeks, and the Steelers need to do their best to get back on the right track offensively.
The Steelers are still adjusting to a lot of changes that took place during the 2026 offseason, but the fan base still expects a better product than what was seen on Sunday.
