Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Has Daring Comments For Buccaneers' Glazer Family

The Pittsburgh Steelers stole a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after erasing a 16-3 fourth-quarter deficit and winning in overtime. The offense started slowly but woke up in the fourth quarter, scoring 16 points and then marching to a huge overtime touchdown drive that ate up most of the 10 minutes. The defense was fairly consistent as it stopped the run but gave up a couple of big plays. After halftime adjustments, Buccaneers quarterback Jalon Daniels looked much more uncomfortable and under-threw a crucial pass, which Jamel Dean intercepted to set up a potential game-winning field goal.

Aaron Rodgers is no stranger to the Buccaneers' stadium. Since his time with the Green Bay Packers, he's had plenty of ups and downs on that field, and his final game in Tampa was perhaps his sweetest. Rodgers didn't leave Raymond James Stadium without voicing his displeasure with the playing surface. He put the Buccaneers' ground crew and ownership on blast, saying it's been this way for years.

During his press conference, Rodgers said the field is one of the worst in the league, and he's thankful to have come out of the game unscathed. The four-time MVP even admitted he's been hurt twice on the field and believes the turf caused it; he thinks it's unsafe. It was a legitimate and deliberate message to the Glazer family, who own the Buccaneers.

"It's gotta be one of the worst surfaces in the league," Rodgers stated. "And we're talking about player safety. I'm very thankful to not get hurt. I've gotten hurt twice on this field, you know, in my opinion, because of the turf. Now, I know USF plays here, I believe, but that surface, I don't think it's very safe out there."

Since signing with Pittsburgh in June 2025, Rodgers should be used to playing on poor grounds after how the 2025 season went. The Steelers' grass was typically worn out and had plenty of divots, causing players to slip often. It's been much better in 2026, but Rodgers still believes Tampa's turf is one of the worst in the NFL. After the grass he's played on in Pittsburgh, that says a lot.

Pittsburgh isn't the only field with a poor playing surface. Rodgers spent two seasons with the New York Jets, whose turf has caused countless season-ending injuries. In his first drive as a Jet, Rodgers got sacked and his foot got stuck in the turf, which ultimately caused him to tear his Achilles. MetLife Stadium has claimed plenty of victims this way, and Rodgers is on a long list of players whose careers changed because of the turf.

While the Steelers won the game and didn't seem to have any issues with the playing surface, it still takes a toll on the joints more than traditional grass. In Week 7, they'll travel to Paris, France, to take on the New Orleans Saints in a stadium that typically hosts soccer matches. Hopefully, the grass is a better surface than what they just played on.

Steelers Have A Tough Matchup In Week 7

On top of playing on foreign soil, the Steelers will face a Saints team that doesn't go down easy. Led by young signal-caller Tyler Shough, the Saints offense is one to respect, still featuring weapons like Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara, and Devaugh Vele. They are 2-4, but they've beaten the Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants, and have played most of their other games very close.

Pittsburgh has been known to play very close games when they seem very winnable and even losable. They played an excellent game in Dublin, Ireland in 2025, but still won the game by just three points. The Saints' defense may not be elite, but it still has playmakers like Chase Young, Justin Reid, and Julian Blackmon.

They also have a solid linebacker duo in Pete Warner and Kaden Ellis. The Steelers offense has struggled to get started in the past few games. In Week 7, they may want to get things going sooner rather than later.
