The Pittsburgh Steelers could have an interesting opportunity to strengthen their receiving corps if the Philadelphia Eagles decide to move on from Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. The veteran wide receiver has built a career on his speed and ability to create explosive plays, and a potential change of scenery could put him on Pittsburgh's radar.

Former Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown celebrates after defeating the Buffalo Bills in the 2025 AFC Championship game.

Brown, who previously played for the Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, and currently the Philadelphia Eagles has experienced several different offensive systems throughout his NFL career. While injuries and inconsistent production have affected parts of his journey, his experience and ability to stretch the field could make him an intriguing option for a Steelers team looking to improve its passing attack which has been riddled with injuries as of late.

Of course, any potential move would depend on Brown's availability and whether Pittsburgh believes he could contribute to its plans for this year and potentially the future. Nothing currently guarantees that the Steelers will pursue him, but the possibility is worth considering if Philadelphia decides to go in another direction.

Brown's connection to Pittsburgh also makes the idea particularly interesting. He is the cousin of former Steelers superstar Antonio Brown, one of the most productive wide receivers in franchise history. That family connection has followed Marquise throughout his career, and he previously made it clear that playing in Pittsburgh appealed to him. In fact, Brown expressed interest in joining the Steelers before entering the NFL in 2019, when he was preparing for the draft.

“I love Pittsburgh. They have a Hall of Fame quarterback. I would love to play there,” Brown said.

Those comments reflected his enthusiasm for the possibility of playing for the franchise, although a move to Pittsburgh never materialized at the time.

While the Hall of Fame quarterback Brown was referring to (Ben Roethlisberger) is no longer in Pittsburgh, the Steelers have another signal-caller at the helm who could be an intriguing fit for his skill set. With his ability to stretch the field and create explosive plays, Brown could give Pittsburgh's passing attack another dimension and potentially thrive in an offense looking to unlock more big-play potential.

If the Eagles decide to part ways with Brown, Pittsburgh could have a reason to explore whether he would fit its offense. Brown entered the NFL as the 25th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, selected by the Baltimore Ravens. He enjoyed his most productive season with Baltimore in 2021, recording 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns. His ability to get behind opposing defenses made him an important part of the Ravens' passing game.

There are still questions Pittsburgh would need to answer before making a move. Brown's recent production, injury history and expected contract would all factor into the decision. The Steelers would need to determine whether his potential contributions justify using valuable roster or draft resources on another veteran receiver.

Would The Steelers Make Sense?

Ultimately, the Steelers would need to decide whether Brown offers something their current receiving group lacks. His speed and NFL experience could be valuable, particularly if the team wants to add another player capable of producing explosive plays. For now, a move remains hypothetical rather than a confirmed possibility reported by either team.

The Steelers have lacked a consistent vertical threat capable of stretching defenses and turning deep passes into explosive plays. Brown's elite speed could make him an ideal fit for that role, forcing opposing defenses to respect the deep ball and creating more space for Pittsburgh's other playmakers. If given the opportunity to capitalize on his strengths, Brown could thrive in an offense that needs a receiver who can take the top off a defense and change the game with a single play.

Still, if the Eagles move on from Hollywood Brown, the Steelers could be a team worth watching. His experience, speed and connection to Antonio Brown would make the situation an intriguing one for Pittsburgh fans, particularly if the organization believes he can help improve its passing attack while other receivers battle back from injury.
