The Pittsburgh Steelers secured a win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday as the team won its second straight international game. This brings the Steelers to 5-2 on the 2026 season, and the group is firmly in contention in the AFC North. It was a messy win as the offense was only able to score one touchdown on the day, but a win is a win, especially overseas. The Steelers now have a big clash with the Cleveland Browns in Week 8 before reaching the bye week. There were a ton of headlines surrounding the game in Paris, and that continues to be the case.

Most international games for the NFL are broadcast on NFL Network, and former 2x MVP quarterback Kurt Warner is on the call for those games. He is well known by fans in Pittsburgh as he was the quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals when the Steelers beat Arizona back in Super Bowl XLIII. It is considered one of the best Super Bowls of all time, and the Steelers were able to win after a last-minute touchdown drive that ended with the infamous Santonio Holmes catch in the corner of the end zone. Holmes dragged both of his feet perfectly, yet some former players from the Cardinals love to debate whether or not it was a touchdown.

While Warner was calling the game between the Steelers and the Saints, New Orleans wide receiver Chris Olave had a toe-dragging catch along the sideline that was reviewed. This prompted Warner to bring up the catch from Holmes where he said that they never fully say both of Holmes' feet drag on the ground. He was getting attacked by some Pittsburgh fans on social media, so he addressed the comment on X after the game.

"People, I’m just having a little fun at my Super Bowl loss to the Steelers, relax please!" Warner wrote. "I’m not bitter, I know [Santonio Holmes] had his feet down and they should have won, but like anyone, I don’t take myself too seriously and can still have fun with it all! It’s how normal life works -- back and forth between rivals or after an important game, no need to CUSS me out for fun comments!"

Warner is not the only player that has questioned the call from that Super Bowl, although it is very clear that Holmes got both feet down and had possession of the ball. He noted he was just joking, and he is well aware that the Steelers should have won that game. Also, Warner and the Cardinals got the ball back with enough time left in the game to make something happen, but he was sacked and he fumbled to seal the win for Pittsburgh. His comment on the air was likely made in jest, but fans took offense to it as he questioned one of Pittsburgh's Super Bowl victories.

Warner had a rough day in calling the game between the Steelers and the Saints. He was bashed for his comments doubting the game-winning touchdown in Super Bowl XLIII, and he also mixed up running back Jaylen Warren with Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren. Fans in Pittsburgh went after him for that too, but he had just called a Colts game a few weeks before, so the mix-up was completely understandable.

Steelers Have Been Great Internationally Over The Last Two Seasons

The Steelers have one of the best fan bases in the NFL, and that has been evident from the team's two international games over the last two years. The fans always travel well, within the country and abroad. Pittsburgh has gone 2-0 in their two international games in 2025 and 2026, which is a good sign for the franchise as the NFL is going to continue to increase the volume of these games overseas.
