The Pittsburgh Steelers have plenty of reasons to feel encouraged about their 5-2 start to the 2026 NFL season, but running back Jaylen Warren might be the biggest one. Pittsburgh secured a 16-10 victory over the New Orleans Saints in Paris on Sunday, and Warren continued establishing himself as one of the NFL's most productive offensive weapons. His contributions have become increasingly important to head coach Mike McCarthy's offense. Now, an incredible statistic involving Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker III has revealed just how impressive Warren's season has been.

Warren entered the season with an opportunity to become an even bigger part of Pittsburgh's offensive identity. Through seven games, he has demonstrated that his value extends far beyond traditional rushing statistics. His ability to contribute as both a runner and receiver has made him an essential piece of the Steelers' offensive game plan. More importantly, his production has remained consistent enough to place him alongside some of the NFL's most dangerous playmakers.

Following Pittsburgh's victory over New Orleans, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler highlighted an impressive statistical accomplishment involving Warren. The finding puts the Steelers running back in elite company and demonstrates how frequently he has delivered significant production. Fowler also offered a straightforward assessment of Warren's importance to Pittsburgh's offense.

"Jaylen Warren's impact as the Steelers' best weapon: He has four games of at least 125 scrimmage yards, tying Kansas City's Kenneth Walker III for most in the NFL," Fowler said.

That is an impressive accomplishment for a player who has worked his way into such an important role. The entire NFL world assumes Walker as one of the most coveted backs right now. It turns out the Steelers have one just as good, according to the stats.

Recording 125 scrimmage yards in a single game is difficult enough, especially when opposing defenses understand how dangerous a running back can become. Doing it four times through seven games demonstrates a level of consistency that deserves considerable attention.

The comparison to Walker makes the achievement even more interesting. Walker has established himself as an explosive NFL running back, and matching his production in this particular category puts Warren among the league's most consistently productive offensive players. It also provides an important reminder that Pittsburgh has a legitimate difference-maker in its backfield.

Against the Saints, Warren rushed for 101 yards on 18 carries and added 36 receiving yards. His 137 total scrimmage yards gave him another outstanding performance while helping Pittsburgh secure an important victory overseas. The Steelers finished with 148 rushing yards as a team, demonstrating how effective their ground attack can become when Warren finds opportunities.

However, Warren's value cannot be measured exclusively by his rushing totals. His receiving ability creates additional problems for opposing defenses, particularly when Pittsburgh needs to manufacture offense through shorter passing concepts. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers benefits from having a dependable option capable of turning ordinary touches into meaningful gains.

That versatility is especially important considering Pittsburgh's offensive inconsistencies. Rodgers acknowledged after Sunday's victory that the Steelers have plenty of improvements to make, particularly inside the red zone. When an offense struggles to finish drives, having a player who can consistently create yardage becomes even more valuable.

Steelers' Jaylen Warren Emerging As Pittsburgh's Most Important Offensive Weapon

Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of Fowler's finding is what it suggests about Warren's long-term importance. The Steelers have invested heavily in building an offense capable of supporting Rodgers, but Warren has emerged as someone Pittsburgh can consistently depend upon. His production has not been limited to one impressive afternoon or a particularly favorable matchup.

Instead, Warren has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to influence games through his combined rushing and receiving contributions. Four performances with at least 125 scrimmage yards represent more than an occasional breakout. They suggest Pittsburgh has found a player capable of producing at a high level regardless of how his touches are distributed.
