The Pittsburgh Steelers' offseason has been filled with excitement, thanks to General Manager Omar Khan's willingness to make bold and unorthodox moves. The Steelers have completely revamped their quarterback room, invested heavily in free agency, and added new personnel to their coaching staff.

However, the wide receiver room remains a significant concern. Early in the offseason, the Steelers traded away their star wide receiver Diontae Johnson, leading many analysts to speculate that the team is actively seeking his replacement. Reports have surfaced that the Steelers were attempting to trade for a wide receiver to complement George Pickens. While they have acquired receivers like Quez Watkins, Van Jefferson, Scotty Miller, and drafted Roman Wilson, these additions have not instilled much confidence among pundits and fans.
This situation has linked the team to nearly every available wide receiver, and even some who are not officially on the market. The most prominent trade rumors involve the San Francisco 49ers, who have struggled to reach a deal with their star wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk. A leaked video on social media recently showed Aiyuk presumably telling his former college teammate Jayden Daniels that the 49ers did not want him back.
As a result, Steelers fans are once again hopeful for a possible trade for Aiyuk. Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ray Fittipaldo joined the 93.7 The Fan Morning Show on Wednesday to share his thoughts on a potential trade with the 49ers for Aiyuk.
"I think for the Steelers, I think they're interested, but I think they're interested at their price and I think what Omar Khan is gonna do is he's gonna wait until it gets really uncomfortable for John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan. And if you've noticed, Aiyuk is kind of starting to make it uncomfortable for the 49ers. So, I think deadlines always spur these deals, right? As the season gets closer, I think the 49ers might have a little bit more urgency in moving him.”
Fittipaldo highlighted that Khan has a strategic plan and is waiting for the perfect moment to act. He believes that Aiyuk's growing dissatisfaction with his current team plays in the Steelers' favor. Fittipaldo also shared his thoughts on when a potential deal with the 49ers might take place.
"But yeah, listen guys. It's been out there since March. We've known this has been a thing since March, and I think if it's gonna happen, probably not gonna happen in June. I think it'll happen probably closer to training camp or the start of the season."
Speculation about a possible trade between the 49ers and the Steelers has grown tiresome. The topic has dominated the offseason, and fans are becoming annoyed by the constant reports. However, the trade talks are still very much alive. Khan and the Steelers are clearly serious about bolstering their wide receiver room. While they have depth, they need a proven wide receiver to pair with Pickens.

Securing a trade to bring Aiyuk to Pittsburgh would be a significant move, but it would come at a high cost. The Steelers would need to offer Aiyuk a salary the 49ers are unwilling to pay, likely between $25-30 million, and give up substantial assets in the trade.
Steelers' Omar Khan Has A Price And He Is Waiting For The 49ers To Get Scared
This is why Fittipaldo believes that Khan is waiting. He has a set price and won't budge. Khan is content to wait until the situation in San Francisco becomes more strained, which appears to be happening.
