The Pittsburgh Steelers were in the NFL headlines throughout the 2024 offseason and that has continued into the regular season. A lot of talk has surrounded the team's quarterback situation, but one of the more glaring issues since General Manager Omar Khan traded Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers, has been the lack of a true number two wide receiver opposite of George Pickens. After several attempts to acquire Brandon Aiyuk from the San Francisco 49ers, the young pass-catcher ended up re-signing with the team that drafted him. Now, a new name has come to the surface and fans are anxiously awaiting to see what happens.

Davante Adams is disgruntled out West and the Las Vegas Raiders could trade him literally any day now. It's been reported that the New York Jets are his desired landing spot so he can reunite with Aaron Rodgers. The Steelers, as well as the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens, have also been linked to the three-time All-Pro.
There are a couple of moving pieces to the situation, but overall, Adams would like to be in New York. However, he is reportedly not opposed to going somewhere else. Pittsburgh is likely to make an aggressive pursuit, but it's becoming increasingly more likely by the hour that the Jets will use either a second-round pick, or both of their 2025 third-round picks, in a deal to trade for Adams.
In the first quarter of New York's Week 5 contest against the Minnesota Vikings, the offense struggled. Rodgers threw two interceptions, one of which was a pick-six. Just prior to the turnover that went for a score, Allen Lazard dropped a pass, which led to Rodgers forcing a throw on the next play. Overall, the unit looked way out of wack and could seriously use a top-notch weapon.

The Jets' front office couldn't have possibly watched the play from the offense and not wanted to go all-in to get Adams. This is bad news for the other teams interested, as New York has a clear need, the cap space to make a deal possible, and is where Adams wants to go. When one connects the dots, a brutal first quarter in London further emphasized the Jets' need for a guy like Adams.
Garrett Wilson and Rodgers have not been nearly as effective as fans in New York could have hoped, and the receiver hauled in three catches for just 16 yards against the Vikings in the first 15 minutes. The Steelers and Khan can't be watching this game and feeling good about their chances to land Adams given all of the moving pieces that connect the wideout to the Jets.
Time will tell what the resolution will be when it comes to Adams, but there might not be anything any other organization can do, the Steelers included, after another poor offensive quarterback from New York.

Steelers Could Have Multiple Alternative Options In Coming Weeks At Wide Receiver
Pittsburgh definitely needs some help in the wide receivers' room. DeAndre Hopkins and Romeo Doubs will be two names to keep an eye on as the trade deadline approaches. If Khan isn't aggressive enough when it comes to Adams, the offense will still need another weapon if the goal is to win multiple playoff games. Khan has not been shy in the past in terms of the trade market, so the month of October should be very interesting.
