The Pittsburgh Steelers are eager to see what type of 2025 season they can have now that they know who their starting quarterback is going to be. It was a very long offseason waiting on Aaron Rodgers to publicly announce he would be joining the Steelers. Now that he has joined the team, he has come in with a team-first attitude and is really starting to win the fan base over. Rodgers has already been seen putting in extra time with his teammates and showing leadership that the organization believes will be key to a successful year.

One of the most interesting parts about the Rodgers saga is his polarizing personality. While some doubted whether he would be the right fit in Pittsburgh, especially with his outspoken nature and past media drama, those concerns have started to fade. Several reports that surfaced during the offseason turned out to be false, and Rodgers has made it clear he does not appreciate misinformation. Still, he has handled the noise with a calm focus and has tried to shift the conversation back to football.
Rodgers spoke on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday about life after he retires and what that might look like. He mentioned that while he is all in for the 2025 season, he has started thinking about what comes next. Rodgers made it sound pretty certain that 2025 will be his last season in the NFL.
"I told you, when this is all done, I'm out," Rodgers said. "You won't see me. And I know that l've chosen to be in the public eye for one more season, so my private life is staying private and any other ridiculous story that's out there about my family that I don't talk to, you know, they wouldn't know any information about me. Like, leave them alone."
While the decision on Rodgers loomed and the Steelers' fan base grew increasingly anxious, a wave of conflicting reports dominated the offseason. One of the most talked-about claims was that Rodgers was asking for $40 million to sign with Pittsburgh, which turned out to be completely false. He ultimately signed a one-year deal worth $13.65 million, which closely matched the number he had previously said he would play for.

As speculation swirled, Rodgers kept a low profile and avoided making any public statements about his future. Photos of him vacationing on a beach in Malibu sparked even more rumors about whether he was serious about returning to the NFL. Despite the noise, those close to the situation remained confident that Rodgers would eventually join the Steelers, and thatβs exactly how it played out.
"You want to keep stalking me on the beach and getting photos of me and [his dog] Apollo go for it," Rodgers said. "I don't give a sh*t, but stop making sh*t up. And my private life is my private life and it's gonna stay that way."
Rodgers has since spoken about life after football and made it clear that once he retires, he plans to completely remove himself from the public eye. He said he has no interest in being a regular media presence or chasing the spotlight after his career ends. Until that day comes, his focus is entirely on helping the Steelers chase a championship in 2025.
Rodgers has made it clear that his time in Pittsburgh will likely be a one-and-done experience. Even so, his commitment has brought a jolt of excitement to the city and sparked real curiosity among football fans. Many are eager to see if he still has any vintage performances left in him, and whether he can capture some of the magic that defined his prime years.
Steelers' Mike Tomlin Is Very Confident In His New QB
Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin is fully on board with the move and believes Rodgers still has enough in the tank to lead the team on a deep playoff run. Tomlin has never shied away from bold expectations, and he has openly said he believes Rodgers can help the Steelers compete for a Super Bowl in 2025.
