The Pittsburgh Steelers have already made a lot of big moves that have kept them in the headlines this offseason. However, it looks like they might not be finished just yet. After recently trading for cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Miami Dolphins, there's growing speculation that the Steelers could bring in another player who played in Florida last season before the new season kicks off.

It’s no secret that the Steelers have been exploring available options to add to their wide receiver room following the departure of George Pickens. For a while, there was a lot of speculation about potential targets, but recently, those rumors seemed to quiet down. However, that buzz may be picking up again, as Steelers insider Jeremy Fowler recently took to X to share that the Steelers remain a legitimate option for wide receiver Gabe Davis. While a deal may not happen immediately, Fowler emphasized that Pittsburgh is still very much an option for Davis.
Free agent WR Gabe Davis still an option for Steelers on offense, too. He really enjoyed his visit there. Though he could take his time to sign, possibly closer to training camp.

This is an exciting time to be a Steelers fan. Recent reports have indicated that Steelers General Manager Omar Khan has been "very open-minded" when it comes to exploring available players. That’s great news, as it shows that they are committed to bringing in the best talent possible to improve the overall roster. Some people initially questioned whether Ramsey would have a clear role given the existing talent in the secondary, but his addition not only boosts the overall talent level, it also strengthens the team’s depth, giving the Steelers more flexibility on the field.
It seems that this mindset continues with Davis. The Steelers made a massive addition to their wide receiver room earlier this offseason by acquiring DK Metcalf. Although Metcalf wasn’t a free agent, as he was brought in through a trade, the Steelers made it happen. They showed a desire for a long-term commitment, signing Metcalf to a five-year contract. With his combination of experience, strength, and talent, Metcalf adds a powerful presence to the Steelers’ offense.

On the other hand, recently Steelers Wide Receivers Coach Zach Azzanni mentioned that Calvin Austin III is currently considered the Steelers' second starting wide receiver. However, reports suggest that they may not be done making big moves just yet. Davis is an experienced veteran with a proven track record, and his presence could make a big impact, not just on the field, but off of it as well.
It’s clear that Metcalf is locked in as the Steelers’ wide receiver one (WR1) moving forward. However, the search for a reliable WR2 is nothing new. For years, fans have been hoping the team would establish a strong, dependable receiving duo. In the landscape of today's league, having just one great receiver isn’t enough. A strong receiving pair not only gives the quarterback more options, but also forces defenses to spread out, making it harder for them to stop the passing game and keeps them on their toes throughout the game.
Steelers Will Have All Eyes On Them In 2025
The amount of changes the Steelers have made this offseason has completely changed the look and feel of the roster. This new roster has created a wide range of opinions from everyone. As a result, the Steelers will be under a lot of pressure, not just as a team to perform well, but also on an individual level, with certain players facing added expectations to prove themselves.

The Steelers' front office has also had a lot of scrutiny for the changes made this offseason, hoping that the upcoming season will justify those decisions. While it remains uncertain whether the Steelers will bring in another high-profile player like Davis, the way this offseason has unfolded so far suggests that anything is possible. Another big move wouldn’t come as much of a surprise at this point.
