Steelers Legend Terry Bradshaw Completely Bashes Organization During Recent Appearance

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the more interesting teams in the NFL over the last several years. The franchise has been pursuing stability at the quarterback position ever since Ben Roethlisberger retired following the 2021 season, and the position has been a disaster for Pittsburgh. The organization has completely turned over the quarterback room for the second season in a row as Aaron Rodgers is gearing up to be the starter in 2025, and this comes after a failed experiment with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in 2024, and missing on Kenny Pickett in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Pittsburgh missing on Pickett certainly set the organization back a couple of years. The quarterback was with the team for just two seasons after being a first-round selection, as the franchise traded him during the 2024 offseason to the Philadelphia Eagles

He won a Super Bowl as a backup in Philadelphia, and he was then dealt to the Cleveland Browns where he is fighting for the starting job in 2025. Had he worked out in Pittsburgh, the Steelers would be in a much better space as a team, and four-time Super Bowl champion Terry Bradshaw blames the franchise entirely, which he stated on a recent edition of To The Point - A Home Services Podcast.

"Steelers getting rid of Kenny Pickett, a first-rounder, got rid of him after two years." Bradshaw said. "And they're still looking for a quarterback. They didn't even do anything to build around him. You draft a quarterback in the first round, he is going to be successful. But you've gotta surround him with the kind of talent he had in college. And they don't do it and they call him a bust."

Pickett definitely struggled during his time with the Steelers. He often got injured, and his play was extremely inconsistent. However, there are a lot of factors that went into that. The offensive line was not good while he was the quarterback in Pittsburgh, and the play-calling from then-Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada was some of the worst in the league.

It is hard to be successful as a quarterback in the NFL when playing behind a below-average offensive line and running an offense that is entirely predictable. The was what Pickett was going through during his stint as the starter for the Steelers. He could have played better and he showed some bad tendencies, but bailing on him after firing Canada in the middle of the season seemed like a strange move from Pittsburgh.

It showed that the organization had no faith in him to get better, which is why it moved on so fast. It is also important to note that Pickett was a pick made by former General Manager Kevin Colbert. He retired ahead of the 2022 season, but he was still in his position during the 2022 NFL Draft when Pickett was selected.

The new regime under General Manager Omar Khan decided to move on, and in turn jumpstart finding the organization's next quarterback. As of now, the Steelers don't seem any closer to finding their franchise guy at the position.

Steelers Former Quarterback Kenny Pickett Had Plenty Of Weapons

While Pickett was hindered by a poor offensive line and a bad offensive system, he still was surrounding by talent at the skill positions. Pat Freiermuth is a reliable tight end, and George Pickens and Diontae Johnson were a formidable wide receiver duo. Najee Harris was a bell cow that was consistent, and Jaylen Warren began to emerge right when Pickett became the starter. The offense should have been able to produce better, and Pickett was a weak link.

Bradshaw made some good points in that Pickett had to deal with some difficult situations, but there was also plenty there while he was in Pittsburgh to produce more as a young quarterback.
