The Pittsburgh Steelers have sort of been an interesting team to monitor throughout the 2025 offseason. For starters, they brought in four-time league MVP and now 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers to be their starting quarterback. Many pundits are torn about what Rodgers can bring to the Steel City in what is expected to be his final season in the NFL. He managed to win just five games in 2024 with the New York Jets, but many believe the poor season wasn’t entirely his fault.

When Rodgers joined the Jets in 2023, there were immediate Super Bowl expectations. However, those hopes were crushed when he suffered a torn Achilles just four snaps into the season. Rodgers worked hard through rehab and returned in 2024, but he was clearly still limited by the injury. Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin watched closely as Rodgers got more comfortable toward the end of the year, and decided that he was Pittsburgh’s best option for 2025 after the team was unable to re-sign Justin Fields. The Steelers made the move and brought him in just before mandatory minicamp in June.
Adding to the excitement, NFL Hall of Famer Randy Moss recently appeared on the Mystic Zach YouTube channel and shared his thoughts on Rodgers and the Steelers. Moss said he has a lot of faith in what Rodgers can still do and believes Pittsburgh made a smart move. While many remain skeptical, Moss thinks Rodgers still has the leadership and talent to push the Steelers deep into the playoffs.
"To change the subject a little bit, I am going to tell you a guy that I think is going to have a phenomenal year," Moss said. "I am looking for a big year out of Pittsburgh. The reason why I look at a big year out of Pittsburgh is because of Aaron Rodgers. The last two seasons, he was hurt, last year coming off of an injury and all the naysayers were saying he was washed up."
While many are doubting that Rodgers has any vintage moments left, Moss is betting big that the Steelers and Rodgers will have a magical 2025 season.

Moss is super excited to watch the new duo in the Steel City featuring Rodgers and new wide receiver DK Metcalf.
"The one thing that I know about a major injury like that is that it takes you a year after the injury to fully recover," Moss explained. "So I look for a big year out of Aaron Rodgers and a guy like DK Metcalf. I am excited about DK in Pittsburgh, I am excited about Aaron and that defense with Tomlin."
It’s an interesting time for the Steelers as many fans had hoped the team would begin a rebuild and focus on getting younger. Instead, General Manager Omar Khan decided to do the impossible. He managed to build for the future with 12 expected draft picks in the 2026 NFL Draft while also improving the roster and keeping it competitive for the 2025 season. This approach has surprised many and shifted the conversation around the team’s outlook.
Steelers' Passing Attack Doesn't Look That Bad After All
Moss believes the Steelers are competitive enough to make a serious Super Bowl run. While there are concerns after trading away star wide receiver George Pickens, many Steelers fans are starting to place their faith in Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson, and Robert Woods to get the job done by committee. This group, combined with a strong supporting cast, gives hope that the offense can still be effective, despite the big changes.

The Steelers also boast one of the best tight end groups in the NFL with Pat Freiermuth, Jonnu Smith, and Darnell Washington. With plenty of weapons at Rodgers’ disposal, the offense has potential to be dynamic. Of course, staying healthy will be a major key for this passing attack. If the team can avoid injuries, the Steelers may not be in trouble after all and could be set up nicely for a successful 2025 season.
