The Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2025 season is set to be one of the most interesting ones in recent history. For starters, they made massive moves several times this offseason, reshaping the roster with bold decisions. Perhaps the wildest aspect is the fact that Aaron Rodgers will be their starting quarterback. Rodgers is expected to be playing in the final season of his legendary NFL career, and seeing him suit up in black and gold still feels strange for many Steelers fans, but there is no denying the excitement it brings.

CBS Sports analyst Jared Dubin recently released his thoughts on the panel of 12 voters, rankings of the top offensive "Triplets" in the NFL for the 2025 season. For the Steelers, they named Rodgers, DK Metcalf, and Jaylen Warren as the trio leading the offense. Despite the star power, they ranked them just 25th out of 32 teams, placing them near the bottom of the league. The decision has raised plenty of eyebrows, especially given the talent and experience within that group.
What makes this ranking even more controversial is how far Rodgers has dropped in just one year. Before the 2024 season, the same panel of voters placed Rodgers and his New York Jets teammates Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson at ninth in the league. That was a top-ten unit, and now with what many believe are better weapons in Pittsburgh, he has plummeted sixteen spots. The drop-off feels steep, and many around the league are calling the new ranking a major miss. Though Dubin did admit he didn't agree with the Jets being ranked so high for the 2024 season.
"This is a hard fall for Rodgers, whose Jets amazingly checked in ninth in last year's rankings, about which I was very confused at the time," Dubin said. "Now, he, Warren and Metcalf only have the Steelers one spot higher than they were with Russell Wilson, Najee Harris and George Pickens did a year ago."
The Steelers traded away wide receiver George Pickens, let running back Najee Harris walk in free agency, and also allowed quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to leave in free agency.

Ahead of the 2024 season, the same panel of voters ranked the Steelers 26th for their trio of Pickens, Harris, and Wilson. Now, despite a fresh set of faces making up their offensive triplets, the panel still believes the Steelers have one of the worst trios in the NFL.
"Perhaps you're a big Kaleb Johnson guy and think he breaks out and therefore the Steelers should be higher, but given the way Rodgers has played since his last MVP season in 2021, being in the bottom third of the league feels right for one of his trios," Dubin said.
Steelers' Passing Attack Is Being Slept On
While the Steelers’ triplets may not have earned a strong ranking, that doesn’t mean the team as a whole is that bad. The Steelers’ offense has many fans concerned, particularly about their passing attack. However, it seems like many are sleeping on the tight end room, which features Pat Freiermuth, Jonnu Smith, and Darnell Washington.

All three of those tight ends are more than capable of getting their hands involved in the passing game. With Rodgers in town and likely needing to get the ball out quickly, he is going to love utilizing those three tight ends as reliable pass catchers. The Steelers also have a ton of faith in wide receivers Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson to step up and be highly productive in 2025.
