The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially started 2025 training camp, giving fans an exciting opportunity to watch the team back in action, along with some fresh new faces. This offseason has brought plenty of conversations around the Steelers, with the biggest headline being the arrival of veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. A future Hall of Famer, Rodgers naturally draws attention, and his presence in Pittsburgh has only amplified the spotlight on the team.

Even though most of the attention has been on Rodgers, he still took a moment to give credit to rookie center Zach Frazier. In a post shared by Mike DeFabo, Rodgers praised Frazier for his intelligence. It’s extra meaningful coming from the veteran quarterback, especially during such a crucial time during the offseason.
Rodgers praised center Zach Frazier, saying he’s “so freaking smart” that he’s making some calls for the QB early in camp.

“I said don’t get used to that. At some point, I’m going to be making the calls for you.”
The Steelers' offensive line has faced its fair share of challenges in recent seasons, from inconsistent play to injuries that have hindered the unit’s ability to grow and develop together. This group, made up of mostly young and still developing players, hasn’t had many chances to build chemistry on the field.

Heading into this season, the pressure is even greater. With a 41-year-old veteran quarterback now leading the offense, the offensive line will play a crucial role, not just in creating running lanes and holding off defenders, but in keeping Rodgers protected and upright throughout what could be his final NFL season. Frazier had a strong rookie season after being selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
He quickly stepped into a starting role when veteran Nate Herbig suffered an injury during training camp and held his own throughout the year. Now entering his second season, Frazier will look to build on that early success, and receiving praise from a veteran quarterback like Rodgers is an encouraging sign of his continued growth and impact.
Before Rodgers joined the Steelers, there were questions about how his personality would fit in with the team, with some even labeling him a bad teammate. However, since his arrival in Pittsburgh, Rodgers has shown nothing but positivity. He’s taken on a clear mentorship role with rookie quarterback Will Howard, which has helped build team chemistry.
His praise for Frazier, who plays such a key role in working closely with the quarterbacks, is another encouraging sign that Rodgers is contributing to a strong, unified locker room. There’s a lot of work ahead in training camp as the team adjusts to new additions and focuses on staying competitive during a rebuilding phase.
Many believe the success of this season depends heavily on the offensive line, that their ability to protect the quarterback and create opportunities will be critical. While the Steelers have brought in plenty of offensive weapons to help Rodgers succeed, none of it will matter if the line can’t give him the time and protection he needs.

The Steelers' Leader On Offense Is Temporary
With Rodgers nearing the end of his career and indicating that this is likely his final season, there's significant pressure on the Steelers to make this year count. However, while the focus is on short-term success, it's on long-term success as well. Reports suggest the Steelers are already looking at next year’s quarterback class, proving that they hope to find a franchise quarterback of the future through the draft.
This relates directly into the development of the offensive line. Right now, they’re tasked with protecting a 41-year-old quarterback who needs a strong pocket and consistent support, but these reps are just as important for the future. Whether it's Rodgers, a young rookie, or whoever it may be leading the team next year, the offensive line will play a crucial role in that quarterback's success and longevity.
